What constitutes a weekend for you?

Just that really.

When does the weekend start and end for you? I'm trying to arrange a meet up with old friends and it seems that we have different views on what is a 'weekend'

Weekend = Friday night and Saturday night. Saturday day, Sunday brunch at a push, then starting to get head back in gear for the week ahead.
Sunday night is still weekend but definitely not for socialising. It’s TV, bath and early night

I second this.

I’m certainly not meeting up with anyone on a Sunday night, unless it’s a bank hol or you can all take the Monday off? Is someone proposing/assuming a monday OP? If you’re all flexible like you said then that’s not too much of a problem is it?

Friday night to Sunday night. We've started going out regularly on Sunday nights and find it makes a really nice change from the standard quiet night in getting ready for work/school. Do that stuff in the afternoon go out in the evening (we have teen DCs not little ones). Or Sunday afternoon out at the pub with friends is nice.

For meetups like this I'd probably just clarify "does that mean no to Fri 4th as well? In that case what about...."

If your talking 'available time for socialising' Id consider Friday evening as an optional part of the weekend rather than guaranteed. Saturday morning to Sunday around 4pm as definitely the weekend and Sunday evening optional again depending on the people involved.

You said bonfire weekend so your friend is checking your availability on the optional part (Friday).

My weekend is 2pm on Friday (immediately after finishing work) until late Saturday evening as I work early on Sunday.

If I worked a 5 day 9-5pm, then my weekend would kick in just after I arrived home, as we'd be having a nicer meal (which we do on our weekends), relaxing, perhaps going out.

In terms of what you're talking about, I'd just ask if the weekend included the 4th? I'd say it probably does if they didn't make it clear they were free then.
