Can you help me with this calculation?

I want to calculate the cost of my annual energy using today's prices but using my actual usage figures from some years back. In 2016 I used 24,480 units of gas & 2716 of electric. Can I just multiply these figures by my current unit costs?

Current electric standing charge 37.92
Current gas sc.... 28.48
Electric cost 35.056pkwh
Gas cost 10.309pkwh

So a years worth of standing charges would be £242.36

Yes just multiply them

So would the gas cost be 24,480 x 10.309p? I seem to remember there's some funny calculation required or am I mistaken?

Check if those prices include 5% vat or if you need to add that too

Do 24480 x 0.10309 for the answer in £ which will be easier.

When you say "units" of gas, do you mean kilowatt hours? If that's what the 24,480 is referring to then yes, you can multiply it by 0.10309 to get the annual cost.

You'd then need to add the standing charge and 5% VAT.

Thank you. I make that total £3904.03 inc vat. So £325 a month every month averaged over the year. 😳
