I'm sitting on my sunbed, and there is a lady near me on her one, and she has a single hair curler (under her fringe) a beautiful manicure and looks lovely

I used to put a big roller in my fringe under my theatre cap when I worked in an operating theatre. It was the only way my fringe looked normal when I finished work.

When I was a child all the local women seemed to wear their rollers under a headscarf (tied at the front like a turban) all week. Mind you, they used to queue up at the co-op bread van in their dressing gowns and slippers too. Life was quite relaxed then.
