I’m not even talking about swear words, which I sort of understand but things like died/dead and sex. Even if it’s to say they are of the female sex.

It’s all about being unalived

I got warned using 'kill'.

Isn't unalived used when the person has committed suicide?
I think on the likes of Instagram, posts get pulled if the person talks about suicide so they use that term to bypass the filters.

It’s weird. It’s making death seem taboo and that it shouldn’t be talked about.

Whilst it’s sad, it’s perfectly normal

Can't call a paedophile a groomer anymore!

RockAndRollerskate · 12/10/2022 21:48

Is it because they’re meant to be taking action to prevent children coming to harm? There was a campaign following some suicides as the children had accessed pro-self harm and pro-suicide materials on social media

miceonabranch · 12/10/2022 21:50

It's to protect delicate sensibilities. People are triggered by anything now 🤦‍♀️ also children aren't supposed to know about things like death so everyone has to be infantilised.

Yes I saw some people using k!ill instead which just seemed so silly. I also noticed people doing it on social media for celebs they had ‘cancelled.’ So say J@ke Gyllenha@l instead of just writing normally. Seems stupid to me. If something offends you so much you can’t write it out then just don’t talk about it at all.

Bestofthree · 12/10/2022 21:58

I assumed it was so filters wouldnt flag up messages and delete the posts for Talk Guidelines. And similar with j@ke - to obscure it from trolls looking for posts about that person/topic.

But then why not just not post about Jake Gyllenhaal? Like surely your target audience for the post also won’t find it now!

I’m not actually that old but sometimes I feel soooo old when I have to contend with social media stuff.
