Couldn't see any posts about this so thought I would start one. Awful news today, I often think about her and her case. I really hope her family get some answers they have been so desperately wanting.

Poor, poor Leah. Just walking to work. All because of some dickhead man who can’t control himself. Yes yes, not all men etc but it’s always a man isn’t it. Guaranteed the police aren’t looking for a woman here but it’s always unspoken. I’m so sick of it.

This. It's so terribly depressing and it really needs to be acknowledged as a problem with men. Ideally for men to step up and solve.

So so sad, I know the police are stretched thin but honestly, an empty house on the route she walked, close to where she was last seen… why didn’t they search it sooner, or at least contact the owner to see if anyone was living there or had the keys. If the owners had told them this man had the keys at the time he may have been found!

@DogsAreAGirlsBestFriend
I agree.
BBC has just reported the Commissioner is doing an inquiry into how the police handled her case.

It’s difficult. The now named suspect had been hiding all over the UK and was wanted.

the police spent hours upon hours searching and knocking on peoples houses asking if they’ve seen anything.

They can’t just enter a house and search it with no evidence.

although, if the homeowner stayed there in the august, why didn’t they smell anything.

horrific for the cleaners/estate agents - whoever it was that found her.

im in bucks, and I’ve always hoped she would get home. Her poor brother died needlessly, convinced it was the ex boyfriend, when he was innocent all along. It’s such a sad story.

I genuinely don’t know what else the police could have done. She had turned off her location settings on her phone the day before. She could of been groomed. We just don’t know. Poor girl. Her family are in my thoughts 💔

I’d understood it was the sex offender ,but I guess not if he’ was in prison at the time

It just makes you realise how many men are perverted sex offenders. They’re everywhere. And we don’t even realise.

MsTSwift · 15/10/2022 17:55

Can’t bear to read it that poor poor lovely girl. Just installed that find my friends thing on my teen dds phones might that have helped? Though the murderer could destroy the phone I guess 😔

I said this same thing today and was told I’m paranoid. By a man.

I've followed this case for years, it's such a sad outcome. Particularly sad that because the main suspect is deceased no one will ever know exactly what happened. Nevertheless I hope her family can take some comfort from knowing where she was found and giving her a peaceful rest.

Re the police, I understand there will be an investigation into the handling of the case (which perhaps is standard practice for these cases?).
But from what I gather there was such a focus at the time on the mystery boyfriend, including from her family, that it's logical the police wouldn't have had reason to enter that house - they would have been looking for people who saw her or who might have cctv outside their houses. Combined with the alleged sightings of her on the day she went missing, further on from this house, crying by the lake, which presumably will now be discounted as being her.

All so sad though!

Distressing detail has shown up in recent news. Saying they are examining evidence that Leah may have been held prisoner for weeks before being murdered. I had thought nothing could be worse than what we knew, but if true, this is far worse. 😖

That's incorrect.

What you're referring to comes from the press conference, when the police officer was asked was it possible that she was held in the house, before she was killed. The police officer replied that they don't know, but of course that possibility will be investigated.

Anon778833 · 02/11/2022 02:11

Why are so many people still saying they think her ex bf known as Mr X was responsible? There are people from Leah’s area making videos about the walk she took and saying that they still think it was him 🤔 I mean, he wasn’t the one who had keys to the house where she was found.
