And then wiping all data from his phone to prevent evidence being gathered.

Couldn’t see a thread so

link

He knew exactly what he was doing

I should hope he is on trial. For now the trial is ongoing. I hope it is fair and reaches a just conclusion.

Bloody hell, our police really are the cream of the crop aren't they? 🙄

golddustwomen · 11/10/2022 12:11

@RichardOsmansXraySpecs took the words right out of my mouth.

Soubriquet · 11/10/2022 12:24

Does seem to be getting worse doesn’t it

This, could not agree more

Soubriquet · 11/10/2022 12:36

Thing is, I’ve always trusted the police. That they would do the right thing.

but all these stories are coming out and it would make me much more nervous to be alone with a male policeman

If I needed the police in an emergency, obviously I would take what I could get, but ideally I would now prefer a woman

I used to trust the Police too but not anymore. When the hell did they drop their standards and start letting in rapists/wife-beaters/animal abusers & thugs? The coppers from the old days must be turning in their graves.

Conversely - and from experience - I never have. Which of us is feels more vindicated ?

I would imagine the recruitment process and interviews go much like the start of relationships - they tend to hide their true selves until they have their feet well and truly under the table.

And some of them will specifally want this type of job precisely because they think potential victims will trust them.

Me neither. I mean look at what happened to 'The Cardiff 3', such a miscarriage of justice, I haven't trusted the police since. They close ranks to protect each other.

The coppers from the old days when? I would love to know when the era of police was so golden.

AllThatHoopla · 11/10/2022 17:22

I've never trusted the police and I have brought my children up not to trust the police. I won't even teach EYFS as I don't like "people who help us".

focuspocus · 11/10/2022 17:41

There have been bad police as long as there's been police. Also brought up not to be to just blindly trust the uniform especially after DM's friend's DD being abused and threatened by her copper ex.

I don’t think it is hidden though is it? A lot of them have previous convictions so surely the recruitment process should weed these ones out?

LadyKenya I mean in the old days of when I was a child and if you were lost/in trouble you could find a policeman and they would help you. So 70s/80s even 90s. I’m not sure when it all changed tbh.

SpinningFloppa · 11/10/2022 17:43

Never trusted them, never will.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 11/10/2022 17:45

@RichardOsmansXraySpecs good luck finding one!

I know an ex- policeman who is the most bigoted, sexist, racist dickhead you could imagine, happily getting a pension. I hope one day his WhatsApps come to light!

SerendipityJane · 11/10/2022 17:48

Remember that undercover copper that managed to have kids with an unsuspecting suspect ? And how it was covered up to the hilt ?

Quveas · 11/10/2022 17:54

I have never really trusted "the police" - I was at Grunwick and Orgreave, amongst other reasons. I also happen to work with the police, and specifically on violence against women - and I'm shocked to find them committed and caring! The thing is, no group of people are collectively trustworthy. Nor are they collectively bad. Damn the bad in them. But we all lose by refusing to accept any good or purpose in them. Truthfully, what would you replace them with? Because with nothing, there is anarchy.

I still don't "trust" them, but I also don't want an absence of them based on the small minority who are evil - a minority that exists in every large group of people.

I suspect there have always been police who abused their position and committed crimes, but a blind eye was always turned. Now some of them are ending up in court but I would be amazed if there aren't a lot more who haven't faced any justice yet.

JuvenileEmu · 11/10/2022 18:14

Let's not forget Wayne Couzen's charming nickname of "the rapist"

VanillaParkersBowl · 12/10/2022 12:33

You would have thought so. WTAF?

Police from the old days are no better, they just hid it and didnt record crime properly

Naunet · 12/10/2022 13:34

I hope he’s raped in prison every single day for the rest of his life. Sickening.

Something needs to change in the police, I don’t trust them either anymore.

quietnightmare · 12/10/2022 13:37

All police shouldn't be tarred with the same brush. There's good and bad people in every profession. Should we stop trusting nurses and doctors because of some sickos. No

FourTeaFallOut · 12/10/2022 13:47

Don't tell me ... none of his colleagues had a clue? He's a single bad apple? Absolutely no earlier accusations are known - until they are? He was very stressed at work? Here's a horrifying nickname his colleagues called him but only in an ironic way because he was the salt of the earth? Off to read the article with my bingo card.
