"PM said to be considering giving parents a £2k a year voucher"
Chief Exc of London early years foundation, June O'Sullivan, not convinced it will be helpful or logical given how childcare is currently provided & funded

Thanks, I'm interested in hearing more about this, very worrying how much damage Truss is trying to do.

She seems utterly clueless doesn't she? The last thing parents need is uncertainty about childcare provision because it impacts on so much

Didn't listen to it, but is the £2k a year intended to replace the tax free childcare scheme, which currently maxes out at £2k a year? Parents already have a lot of flexibility about how to use that money, although you can't use it to pay grandparents etc., which I saw somewhere that Truss was considering.

If she's proposing this system to replace the 30 free hours that's hugely concerning. Where I live the 30 free hours saves me a lot more than £2k a year.

The problem is no one knows what is being proposed, this is no way to run a country. The correct process is you develop your manifesto in advance of the election then get on and implement when you win. Of course if something crops up like COVID you have to respond.

But what Truss is doing is trying to develop new policies whilst in government, meaning no one knows what the fuck is in the plans and we are getting half-arsed annoucements/leaks all the time. Plus no one has voted for these plans.

I can't see how there is going to be more money put into anything given the £43billion needed for their tax cuts already annouced.
