Many years experience (20 +++) as a nurse in an acute environment but I've never worked in the community !
I'm expecting all the usual questions about what skills and qualities I can bring to the team, why I'm making such a big change etc but I'm struggling to find info about new developments/research in this field of nursing. Any community nurses out there who could possibly tell me what are the big developments, clinical changes or issues etc that I could research and discuss if necessary. It's difficult when you aren't actually working in that environment. Thanks in advance 😀

Be aware of PGD’s and PSD’s for vaccinations, and the difference between them.

Lone working questions e.g safety and risk with home visits, what to do if emergency situation (DNAR at home for example)

In our area you just have to be qualified as we’re that desperate!
We’re jack of all trades, need to be able to do most clinical skills, be aware of social issues, patient choice, working as an mdt.
Over the last year we’ve become the face of the NHS to many and are expecting so much of us as they struggle to see GP’s or are too afraid to attend AED due to long waits so communication is key.
We’ve had loads of newly qualified recently who are dropping like flies because of the demands and expectations on us and they just don’t have the experience to deal with it. I’m sure you’ll be snapped up!

I work in management in a community trust. Our interviews are values based. Think of lots of examples of things you have done, patients you have seen where you have demonstrated your values.

Eg give me an example of a time when you have had to give bad news to either a patient or a colleague. Or an example where you disagreed with a policy and why or an example of a time where you have challenged bad practise, or an example where you have altered your communication style to the patient. You get the drift. We are trying to draw out what you are like as a person. We know that people have the right knowledge from their qualifications.

There will be an equality and diversity question. They will be looking for an example where you have adapted your practie to someone with a difference. Eg a disability or a different culture.

They are also done on points. The more you say, the more points you get so in order to get the job, you have to have said the most! When you are answering the questions, just keep talking!

Also take some written examples of work in with you. A project you have done or a report you have written. Something that you are proud of. Refer to it in the answers so it can add to your points.

Hope that helps! Good luck
