Duvet togs!

Ok, help me out here, with a very random question about duvet togs...

Trying to decide what tog to get dd for her new bed, can anyone tell me what sort of tog will do for all year round for a child that doesn't run particularly hot or cold. I am SO confused. According to my Amazon order from years ago, she currently has a 4 tog... what's the difference between a 4 tog and a 10.5 tog, which seems to be the next step in most retailers?

What does a tog mean? WHAT DOES IT EVEN MEAN?!? 🤯🤯🤯

Any advice on togs appreciated!

A 4 tog duvet is quite light and usually best for summer. A 10.5 tog is much warmer and more suited to cooler weather or winter, so it’ll feel noticeably thicker than what she has now. For a child who doesn’t really run hot or cold, a 7.5 tog is usually a good “middle ground” for most of the year. Lots of people also use an “all seasons” duvet, which is normally a 4.5 tog + 9 tog that clip together light in summer, medium in spring/autumn, and combined for winter.
Honestly though, room temperature matters more than anything. If her room stays fairly warm, a lower tog is usually better because kids can overheat quite easily.
Very rough guide:
• 2.5–4.5 tog = summer
• 7–9 tog = spring/autumn or all-round for many homes
• 10.5–13.5 tog = winter
You’re definitely not alone in being confused by tog ratings 😂

Possibly 😄 but I thought I’d reply anyway in case it helps someone else searching for the same thing later. I can’t be the only person who melts under those super thick cruise duvets!
