Toddler occasionally walks on tiptoes, normal?

Hi, have posted in Behaviour but posting here for traffic too.

My 14mo has been walking for almost a month, usually flat footed.

However a couple of times over the last week I've noticed she will take a few steps on her tip toes and then go back to walking normally.

I stupidly googled it and Autism came up so now I'm stressing.

Does anyone else toddler do this occasionally?

So many things on autism checklists are done by NT children at some point in their development. This is one of them. Everything's a phase with children - only worry if it lasts more than a few months.

My son done this for a while too but seems to have stopped since he was fitted for shoes, not sure if that's related or coincidence but definitely around the same time

My daughter did walk on tip toes as a toddler & she was diagnosed with autism, aged 8. It can be a sensory thing.

I know two children who did / do this, one is autistic and one isn't.

It’s only a sign of autism if it persists and even then it can be tenuous. Dc2,3 and 4 are autistic. Only DC2 is a persistent toe walker (aged 12 and still can’t flat foot walk).

Absolutely nor al for that age, I googled it too way back. Apparently its to do with building up the muscles.

DD did that too when she was about 18m to 2y. I posted about it on here and got lots of people diagnosing her with autism. I tried to explain that she had no symptoms of autism, but just a weird way of tiptoeing sometimes (with her toes curled under her foot), but you know how MN gets! Anyway, she’s now 6 and a half and definitely not autistic.

Mine has been doing it sunce she was 14 months ( she is now 22 months ) hope it stops soon
