What time will the trains stop tonight?

DS is out in central London tonight and will need to get home to Twickenham by public transport. I know there's a train and tube strike tomorrow, but will they stop at midnight? Or perhaps start winding down before midnight?

Why don't you look at the timetables and service alerts for the specific route and companies involved?

Because last week they weren't accurate. They just show the normal timetable.

I'm hoping to hear from someone who knows what time they stopped last week.

Last Saturday, there was a train strike if I am not mistaken

tfl.gov.uk/campaign/strikes You need to look up what’s happening on the particular line/date here

Download the app "citymapper". Within the app, go to the routes that you take. Check the stations; it has everything you will need on there

debbrianna · 07/10/2022 23:21

It will also tell you which lines have problems.

There is this Saturday too. Hence the question.

Last week some trains were showing as running on the apps, but the stations were closed when people turned up to catch them. So they're not reliable when there is industrial action.

All the trains outside London have delays and part closure for today. Half of the underground is off. More than likely, they will have issues traveling

Bunnyfuller · 08/10/2022 10:24

I’m guessing no one on MN has insider information that’s superior to what’s available off apps/websites? They’re going off the same information as is available to you, OP.

I should have titled the thread "What time did trains wind down last Friday ahead of the next day's strike?" and make it clearer in the op that I was looking for answers people with direct experience rather than app-info. But it's fine - he got home ok shortly before midnight. I don't know if the trains after that ran or not.

Websites that say "the strike is on Saturday" don't make it clear what happens to the trains that span the midnight hour between Friday and Saturday and, as I said up thread, app info isn't always reliable when there is strike action.

If you click on the link I posted it gives you specific details of each line and what time in the evening they close before midnight. Much more specific than ‘Saturday’.
