Grrrrr. We would have gone if it had been Glasgow 😓

Disappointed 😢

DeadButDelicious · 07/10/2022 19:28

I live near Liverpool so I'm quite pleased! This is the first time I've ever got within sniffing distance of going to Eurovision!

Frazzled2207 · 07/10/2022 19:31

I’m in Manchester and we were robbed IMO but delighted for the city and chuffed it is coming to the NW

Powerplant · 07/10/2022 19:34

Liverpool is nearer for me and my family. Never been before so waiting for tickets sale. Has anyone been before? I’ve been reading about the different days and assume the very final of Eurovision will be expensive 🎉🎉

Scepticalwotsits · 08/10/2022 08:04

Maybe I’m cynical but it seems like Manchester would have been the preferred venue for the beeb as everything is already there. Liverpool seems to be a way of saying look it’s not Manchester, but they can still be home in their beds at night.

I think this was a real missed opportunity to go somewhere else.

Belfast would have been phenomenal and Newcastle also has the facilities to host it, with a great visual location along the Tyne and city, but according to the government and the bbc the north starts and ends at Manchester

stressbucket1 · 08/10/2022 08:08

Oh I'm so excited! I was delighted when they said Liverpool. Will apply for tickets, there are 9 shows including semi-finals. Hopefully will get the final but I will just be happy to be part of it.
Commiserations to Glasgow, they had a great bid but Liverpool is much closer for me and the hotel prices in both areas are astronomical so glad I don't need to look into that!

WolverineBlueyy · 08/10/2022 08:59

I'm over the moon it is Liverpool! I knew it would be brilliant for Eurovision but didn't get my hopes up, and was actually surprised it made the final two.

Not sure I want to get in the bunfight for tickets though, will probably just check out the party atmosphere around town. Imagine it might be some kind of ballot? Can't imagine any normal booking system could cope with mad demand from all over Europe? It would sell out in seconds.

ThreeRingCircus · 08/10/2022 09:08

So excited for Liverpool! Managed to get a hotel room as I'm a massive Eurovision fan so had made some speculative bookings. Hopefully I'll be able to get tickets but even if not I think there'll be a great party atmosphere in Liverpool.

blusteryshowersaway · 08/10/2022 09:30

Disappointed it’s not Glasgow. Great facilities and the BBC are already there.

I am sure it will be a good night regardless.

AsAnyFuleKno · 08/10/2022 09:37

Really great news for Liverpool, and a good choice with such a rich musical heritage in that city to build on.

Fuwari · 08/10/2022 10:00

We’ve bought tickets in previous years. First lot will go on sale in December. (There are a couple more sales in the New year) Honestly you have more chance of getting a Willy wonka golden ticket than a final ticket! Most of them go to the OGAE’s. The best we’ve managed is one of the semis. There are dress rehearsal tickets too which are easier and cheaper to get. Accommodation costs will be sky high, if not sold out everywhere. Unless you live nearby or are a huge fan, it’s not worth thinking about it.

We’re in London and the cost/distance will be too much. We’ll wait for a “cheaper” country to win again!

A good opportunity for locals to rent out spare rooms if they want a bit of extra cash.

We went to the grand Final in the early 2000s but more recently have been to the final dress rehearsal (Saturday lunchtime) or the jury show (Friday night). It's exactly the same show "as live".

The grand final tickets were ££££ (or €€€€) this year - probably why they didn't sell out instantly. We watched the final in the Eurovision Village which was free but a logistical nightmare getting in and queueing for drinks etc. I have no doubt Liverpool will do that infinitely better. It was a cracking night for UK fans though!

We're giving it a miss in 2023 (part of the attraction for us is the travel) but if you can get tickets you will have the time of your life ☺

Etinoxaurus · 08/10/2022 11:56

Squeeeeee! Lifelong ambition to go with DD1 who has loved it since she was a toddler- she’s 26 now.
I’ve booked accommodation 🥰
Is there a 2023 Liverpool logistics thread?
💃🏽 Glitterball 🎤

Fuwari · 08/10/2022 12:18

Just had a look on booking.com out of interest. The cheapest place they have listed staying Tuesday (1st semi) to Sunday, is £9,389!!! Unless you’re willing to stay out of town, then it’s £3780 which is still ridiculous!

Definitely anyone who lives in Liverpool, get a room ready to rent out!

MarshaBradyo · 08/10/2022 12:24

Congratulations Liverpool!

riotlady · 08/10/2022 12:34

So excited! My sister lives in Liverpool so we’re going to try and get tickets and I’ll crash at hers. Does anyone know how much tickets have been in previous years?

Southwest12 · 08/10/2022 12:57

I'm thinking of renting my house out, seems too good an opportunity to pass up!

DCINightingale · 08/10/2022 13:59

Really excited for this. Booked hotel room straight after the announcement, so really hoping we get final tickets, but otherwise we shall try to go to one of the rehearsals and then watch on Saturday at one of the bars or public screenings. Roll on May!

Jury show tickets were about £70 this year, grand final were hundreds. Good luck!

BeetFeet · 08/10/2022 16:12

Honestly, I'll be completely pissed off if that arena isn't packed with Homes for Ukraine guests (95,000 came to the UK under the scheme) and their sponsors. That kind audience would say so much about why they're there, why it's taking place and about new bonds formed between two nations largely unknown the each other before 24 February.

TheBirdintheCave · 08/10/2022 17:42

Very proud of my city for winning the bid 😬🥰
