One of my best cheap shelf buys was Seven packs of Tesco finest sausages. Batch cooked them in air fryer and batch ate them in various guises. It was like sausage roulette when they came from the freezer.
£1.54. Bargainous.

I'm so tempted by batch cooking sausages purely so that I know that a sausage sandwich is only ever a couple of minutes away.

I would recommend buying an airfryer OP, great for cooking bacon, sausages, oven chips etc. much quicker and cheaper than an oven, ours gets used 2/3 a day. I was very skeptical when we bought it, wondering if it would become another gadget taking up room in a cupboard, but it is without doubt one of the best kitchen items I have ever purchased.

Urgh.

Not directed at you op but in general there needs to be some perspective on this. Unless you're really struggling the oven isn't going to break the bank or the job to cook some sausages.

It's about 70p ish.

But, it is a good idea to economise.
We had sausages the other day. Cook 3 packs not just one, so plenty of leftovers. And whilst the ovens on also put some boiled potatoes, carrots, parsnips etc in a baking tray. Then lobbed in some greens on top for the final 10mins.

Sausage roast dinner!! Bit random.. but it was a bit of winner and a repeat performance requested 😂

Thanks for your helpful comment Cwcw. Silly me for worrying about the sky high energy bill. Maybe Scottish power will accept my highly valuable sausages as paper payment

Putting your oven/grill on for half an hour for an average oven might cost less than £1 - you're buying butcher's sausages (around £4-£5?) but worrying about cooking them? Buy cheaper/fewer and cook them nicely! If the oven's on to cook the sausages, you can load it with other things to make it worthwhile!

is your microwave a combi one?

if yes dig out the manual.
the oven part of a combi oven would use less electricity than the big oven.
