Cars parked in parking suspension - what can I do?

We are having work done to the exterior of our house/roof. As it’s a tall building, we need a cherry picker. We applied to the council to have permission to have one, as we would need a parking suspension in place for a day. We waited a month for this.

There were no cars in the parking suspension this morning. I was watching it from my window, ready to run out to tell people if they hadn’t noticed the giant yellow signs or bollards.

I went to shower and came back 20 mins later. Someone had moved the bollards and parked three cars in the suspended area !!!

What the hell am I supposed to do? The cherry picker is due soon and there is now no where for it to go.

Did you phone the council OP? Hoping you are now watching the cars being towed. Will be an interesting evening when the commuters return from the office tonight

I got the date wrong when they were tarmacking (spelling?) our road and forgot to move my car off the drive 😳. The council workers somehow magicked it away and parked it round the corner (I was in, they didn't knock). Call the council and good luck

Ok I have called the council, and magically two of the cars have now gone. The last one is still there , but they might be able to do the work with it there.

At least 2 have moved. I would have been out there questioning them 😁

I drove past a parking suspension yesterday, the tow truck was there picking up the cars that were parked in it.....

I hope not! I'm hoping for a love towing...

when we had a situation like this the workmen parked there to prevent others from being cf.

We had this when we moved office recently. It's a bit of a money-maker for the council as you have to pay to suspend the bays, but they don't actually have any power to make people not use them. All they can do is issue a fine for parking in them. So they earn money from you for the suspension and from the idiotic motorists that park in them.

When you arranged the suspension they should have given you a number to contact, which will send an officer out, but, unfortunately, I don't think they'll be able to track them down or get them to move on.

In our case, thankfully, most people were nearby and soon scarpered out of a nearby shop at the sight of a traffic warden.

There's a difference between the council/highways team suspending bays to do roadworks (where they do lift and shift cars out the way) compared with a resident applying for a parking suspension.

I hope this car gets towed or the owner returns op. People can be so cheeky.

We had this when we were moving house - the car that parked in the space got towed. Very satisfying!

We often have suspensions here (bloody film crews) and cars are towed. More entertaining to watch than whatever is being filmed 😂
