I had to be induced as DS had a known medical issue and they wanted him out at exactly 39 weeks.
Went in on Friday for the pessary which did nothing. Bounced on a ball, walked around the large main hospital for hours. Nothing.
DH came back up on Saturday morning and we were sent to the canteen for a fry up. Then at 12pm they put the drip up. No real pain. I read a book for most of the afternoon.
At 5 I was checked and told it would be the wee hours of the morning before I delivered.
About 5.45 I felt it was getting sore, so I got an epidural then.
At 6 DH went to grab some food, as did my midwife, I asked the new midwife to check again as I really was feeling sore. I was at 10 cm and turned out I'd been trying to hold in a baby.
Everything went manic then, someone rushed to get DH, I got more gas & air as the epidural hadn't time to work. Panic button hit as DS was to be a Dr assisted delivery.
By 6.10 he was born.
I didn't need to epidural for the birth but I'm glad it kept us in hospital another 24 hours as DS medical condition got worse v quickly and instead in being at the children's hospital sleeping on a pull out bed, we went to NICU and were able to stay as a family
So in my experience the induction drug gave me no trouble at all, no pains until the very end.
Good luck and good health for you and your little one for the rest of your pregnancy and beyond.
