Any GP’s or anyone medical on here that could give me advice about DD11

I should start by saying I have called surgery and am waiting on a call back from GP so not relying solely on a diagnosis from mumsnet but am feeling a bit concerned.

DD11 has always been prone to sore throats and coughs and can quite often get viral tonsillitis once a month, we now seem to have a permanent cough and sore throat which doesn’t ever seem to come to anything but is just niggly and there, the current one she has had for the last couple of weeks and she did end up having a few days off school for it at the end of last week…

I have just put all these bugs down to immune systems being still off from lockdown and obviously just came out of the summer hols, she has also gone from a tiny village primary school to a huge secondary so I’ve not thought too out of the ordinary.

This morning when having her breakfast she said she had a “sore tummy at the bottom” I said to her that it was probably the strain of coughing and she might have pulled a muscle she asked me to write her a letter to excuse her from PE (unusual for her as her favourite)

She went into school fairly happy but have had a phone call from her about an hour ago to day her stomach has got much worse and she “need to take deep breaths sometimes” I’ve told her to go to the office and speak to them, I’ve phoned the GP and in the interim googled!!!

Would I be right with these symptoms including the lingering cough to think it could be pneumonia?

I should add she is very happy and confident at new school so not a nervous tummy and that also not COVID, we have had that in the house twice now and routinely test.

A "sore tummy at the bottom" doesn't sound like pneumonia to me (slightly strange wording/ hard to interpret but pneumonia would be more struggling to breathe/ chest pain than in the stomach area).

I might be stating the obvious here but at 11, could she be about to start her period?

I agree sore tummy at the bottom sounds like period cramps. I don’t have any medical advice sorry, absolutely worth speaking to your doctor, but period is the first thing that came into my head reading your post.

I'm glad you are also seeking medical advice. Where did she point to when she said her tummy hurts?
Could be atypical pneumonia, unlikely as this is rare
Could be a run of viral illnesses and a pulled muscle after coughing - this is the most likely cause
Could be period pains as mentioned above - depends where the pain is
However....and please don't panic but abdo pain can (very rarely) be a sign of undiagnosed diabetes, the needing to take deep breaths may also be linked (the physiology of uncontrolled diabetes can cause this). A urine dip at the GP to look for sugar in the urine can exclude this quickly. THIS IS RARE

Sorry for weird wording lol…

put it into her words but I think she meant low down in her tummy opposed to bottom of rib cage area where I could have thought would have been the part on body that would be sore due to coughing…

Definitely not without the realms of possibility could be totally non related to her throat and cough and be hormonal/period as she hasn’t started yet.

Interestingly @ChocHotolate she has been drinking an excessive amount, she says it helps her throat but she also has been craving a lot of sugar recently to the point where I found her eating a teaspoon of sugar from the bag!!
