Daughter locked out In Bournemouth area

My daughter has managed to get herself locked out of her flat in Bournemouth area.
She face timed me at 4am in a bit of a state as she can't get into her university (where she left her key) and the police and fire service wouldn't help her.
I'm almost 200 miles away and told her to get in a taxi and go to a premier inn thinking they might be able to help, but no.
Her phone battery has now gone dead and I'm so worried for her.
I've been Googling but I can't find anything open around there that can help, no 24hr supermarkets etc

Is she on a University campus? There should be a security office staffed 24 hours a day. They are very used to students who lose keys or can't get home and they are usually very sympathetic. Hope she is ok OP

Hope she’s ok

skilpadde · 01/10/2022 05:39

The Tesco Extra and Tesco Superstore both open at 6am, though it sounds like you won't be able to relay that to her.

Where was she when you last heard from her?

Ladygaggia · 01/10/2022 05:42

No, she's got a private flat that she shares, but currently the only one there at the moment.
I didn't want to organise her an emergency locksmith as she knows where her keys are, she just can't get to them.
I'm hoping she can stay warm and safe until then.

What were you wanting the premier inn to do? Did you get her a room there? Doesn't she need a locksmith? What is her last known location? The prem inn? Can you call her there?

Ladygaggia · 01/10/2022 05:45

She'd walked to a police station, but said it wasn't a police station.
I was hoping I could pay for a room at the premier inn - I knew the front desk would be staffed..
I've told her to get to a petrol station...I just don't know the area very well. It's so frustrating

It's getting closer to opening hours of places so I'm sure she'll be ok.
Maybe it'll encourage her to be more organised!
The main problem is the phone battery being dead as I'm sure that's her only form of payment option right now

I'm in Bournemouth, can you share whereabouts she is?

mangoj · 01/10/2022 06:05

The police station is Madeira road if that helps

Fuuuuuckit · 01/10/2022 06:05

So she's learned a lesson, the very hard way. Character-building. Resilience etc.

No doubt she'll be in touch first thing.

I didn't have a mobile when I went to uni, 180 miles away from home, got myself into (and out of) some truly terrifying scrapes.

Ladygaggia · 01/10/2022 06:08

@mangoj find my phone shows her last location as being near her uni the AECC - so more Boscome

If she doesn't have a power pack you could buy her one. My daughter takes hers everywhere so she doesn't run out of phone battery. Fingers crossed she's OK.

Yellowpotato · 01/10/2022 06:15

If she is a student of the AECC there will be a security person onsite from a bit before 8am usually on a Saturday.

Ladygaggia · 01/10/2022 06:17

She's currently "marshalling" a freshers week of entertainment, so I assume she's gone out with very little apart from her phone.

Daft bugger. She'll have a story to tell and I'll have more wrinkles!

Yes @Fuuuuuckit I think I would have been fine in her situation, but then I was a Girl Guide and always prepared to rough it Grin

Ah ok, like others said there is a Tesco express close, could she go over there. Probably not much else open in that area and not ideal to wander around the streets.

Ladygaggia · 01/10/2022 07:12

Thanks for keeping me sane. She's managed to get into uni and get her key.

What. You didn't want to call out a locksmith so you though the premier inn or the supermarket could help. Batshit crazy

glamourousindierockandroll · 01/10/2022 07:47

Why is the supermarket or premier inn crazy?

A 24 hr supermarket is warm and dry. She could wait in there until light and then retrieve her keys in the morning.

OP said she would pay for a room in the premier inn over the phone.

OnTheBrinkOfChange · 01/10/2022 07:52

@outtheshowernow She thought her daughter could stay in the Premier Inn, not that they would help her with her lock!
