Who is it with and how much do you pay?

I used to have BUPA through work. It was about £45 a month for all bells and whistles cover but that was heavily discounted. I pay £50 a month for both DC’s comprehensive, BUPA cover. I could probably bring that down if I rang them and had them put on the same policy. I’ve only used them a handful of times but they’ve always been very good. I’m now covered through DH’s work on vitality. It’s part of his benefits package so no extra cost for us but I’ve not had to make a claim yet so not sure how good they are.

Aviva... £95 a month with £100 excess for 2 adults. We do have an outpatient limit of £1000 a year and as I've been ill I'm now three quarters of the way through it for this year. But as I had to be admitted to hospital via A&E for 8 days, they paid me £100 per day after day three - so that was an extra £600 absolutely no quibble. We've been with them a few years and always found them very good. Like a previous poster - after some scary health issues we make it our top priority - no haircuts, coffees out etc - I'd rather know I'm looked after when I need it!

Dammit I think I pay too much…

Work covers me and DH’s work covers him. We pay £90 a month for a one year old, with pre existing conditions excluded.

That’s with Bupa

Top cover vitality including all central London hospitals with no limits on claims. £2000 2 kids 2 adults. Worth every penny

£2000?! Per month?

Readaboutyourself · 30/09/2022 19:34

I’m with Bupa through work and yes, very happy to have it. I can get a doc appt on the day (video call) and some smear test results were investigated within days rather than 6 weeks with the NHS

StealingYourWiFi · 30/09/2022 19:35

Mines with AXA. Free through work. It’s fantastic. Both times I’ve used their online GP to get an appointment within an hour with them, a referral sorted that day and an appointment with consultant with a few days. All tests done within the first week too.

I do work in a hospital though so I don’t know if that has some sway with how quickly things are processed.

Spectre8 · 30/09/2022 19:36

work benefit with AXA costs me £12 pm

£90 a month for a one year old!! Oh my goodness me that’s a lot! I pay £20 a month for my 9yo - comprehensive cover, no excess with BUPA

cafedesreves · 30/09/2022 20:25

DH's work covers whole family which is amazing. Not sure if I'd pay if not, think might just pay as and when.

WhoopItUp · 30/09/2022 20:29

I have it with a health online who are underwritten by AXA. I pay about £55 for me (late 40s) and about £10 to add my child. I have the type where you can be seen quickly (not the 6 week wait for the NHS variety which is cheaper).

AbsoluteTruths · 30/09/2022 20:31

BUPA, me, dh, ds (18). No excess. £189 a month.

RomeoOscarXrayIndigoEcho · 01/10/2022 12:41

I use HSF for cash back. You have to be careful that you will claim as much as you spend on the monthly bill.

Great thing about HSF is that they are effectively not for profit as they transfer all "profit" to a grant making foundation that then supports charities in the UK.

A year! I pay upfront. I certainly wouldn’t be paying £2000 a month

Beetr00t · 03/10/2022 11:43

We get it through DW's work and pay an extra £50 pm for 'platinum' (bupa).

I have more than made our moneys worth after a 9 month stay in the priory when I was sectioned last year- that stay cost 300k!
