Flying and travelling and medicine bag

I am due to go away in holidays soon. The holiday was booked months ago. I am not looking forward to it.

The last time I went flying abroad was in 2019. I have since been diagnosed with a condition.

It's a gut condition. I take several different types of supplements in the management of that condition -
Magnesium - that keeps me regular and slows down constipation.
Probiotics - for balancing bad/good bacteria.

I have different medications to take as well for pain and cramps.

I will need to pack a medicine bag. I am wondering will a medicine bag be allowed in my carry on luggage or will I have to check it in?

I would take it in your carry on bag just in case your checked in bag goes missing. As long as everything's in its original packaging there shouldn't be a problem. I would separate out any liquids into a separate plastic bag - if they are over 100ml it might be helpful to have a copy of your prescription handy.

A lot of my medication is over the counter stuff - buscoban, paracetamol. I have prescription laxatives.

I was hoping on travelling lighter by organising some of my supplements into a pillbox. Would that be allowed or will I have to keep everything in a jar?

Thankfully I don't have any prescription liquids. It's all tablets and powders.

I travel with epi pens and lots of prescription meds.

I have just put mine through security in a ziplock bag separate to my hand luggage and never had any problems .
Carry your prescription and in original packaging as already said.

I have Crohn's. I put everything in hand luggage with a printed copy of my prescription. Then I've got my meds even if my suitcase goes astray. Manchester airport security do like to have a good rifle through but you just have to stay patient and keep a beady eye on your bag.

I travel with a lot of medication and have never had an issue having it in pill boxes rather than the original boxes. Some of mine is controlled so I bring the prescription just in case but have never had anyone ask for it.

It needs to go in your carry on luggage. I also carry the green slip from the prescription just in case. Everything has to have your name etc on the box. The ones that always seem to be checked are liquids (lactulose always seems to be opened and checked, check they screw the lids on properly after, once they didn't it wasn't great).
If you have lots of medication/medical equipment you can have an extra piece of hand luggage however it can only contain medication/equipment, you have to take a letter from the gp (cost us £25 every time), also have to inform the airline (there's a comment on the ticket to show you've got medical equipment) and then go through the separate section of security (allow extra time).
It's not as bad as you think, have a good holiday.
