Necessary subscriptions

After running out of toothpaste this morning I want know, what practical (if boring) postal subscriptions do you get?

A lot of you get Hello Fresh type deliveries but what other practical subscriptions are you signed up to that make your life easier eg razors, sanitary products, deodorant? I'm talking more toilet rolls and soap, than mystery Birchbox or pjs and socks.

I love getting stuff in the post (even if it's a monthly delivery of dishwasher tablets) and automating as much as possible of the daily necessities seems like it would give me that dopamine high whilst also ensuring I don't have to use strawberry flavour children's toothpaste again. 🤢

So, hit me up and remove some of my life admin!

Going to look up the cat subscription stuff particularly for cat litter. We have to buy it online but postage means we have to buy 2/3 huge bags a time which then sit in our living room.

@PeloFondo I wear SPF every day anyway. TBH I think that is contributing to the general yukiness of my skin right now.

@picklemewalnuts do you use an alternative to skin and me? The Ordinary / Inky is a lot cheaper but I just want something that doesn't need so much thought and effort.

Not started with an alternative but I'm considering it.

If you do, I've rad elsewhere it's easy to pause the subscription over the summer, or set it up for every six weeks rather than every month, to make it a bit cheaper.

Can you not just use fewer products? Use moisturiser/cleanser and product A until A is used up then go on to product B, then back to A? can you tell I'm not an expert. That's how I do skin care. The absolute basics, with something added in for a while.

I used to get household stuff on subscribe and save from Amazon when I was buying for a houseful. Now I find Lidl monthly does the same trick as I'm buying far less.

AriettyHomily · 30/09/2022 17:28

Milk if you count the milkman as a subscription

The rest I just get in the shopping.

gogohmm · 30/09/2022 17:29

I keep a list on my phone and add to it as soon as I start the new packet of things like toothpaste

I have an underwear subscription from oddballs. Once a month they send me two pairs of seamless knickers (one in a funky pattern, another plain) and a pair of funky socks for £9.99. I used to wear my underwear to death, bin it all and then resent spending so much to replace it. The subscription makes it feel less expensive. Also the crazy patterns just make me smile

Coffee pods

Antarcticant · 30/09/2022 18:10

We have a subscription 'Private Eye' magazine and that's it.

I am an eke out and buy when you need to replace person.

I have loads. I get stuff on Amazon subscribe and save and get 15% off.

TimeAtTheBar · 30/09/2022 18:29

Oh god loads. We both work stupid hours and are famously disorganised.

Loo roll
Dishwasher tabs
Laundry capsules
Dog food
Cat food
Beer
Razors
Flea treatment
Contact lenses
Hair dye
Milk delivery

Mostly through Amazon subscribe so we do save a bit (obvs would be cheaper to shop around but we just don’t have the headspace). It’s a game changer really. If we get a surplus we just pause subscriptions for a month or whatever.

MurderOfBirds · 30/09/2022 19:32

Just HP Instant Ink

mynameiscalypso · 30/09/2022 19:34

Bin bags via Amazon subscribe. So glam!

LostAtTheCrossRoad · 30/09/2022 22:19

I have a coffee and a gin subscription and dh has a wine box thing. Oh, and we also have a simply cook box every couple of months. Everything else goes on a shared shopping list app which means either of us can see exactly what we need at any point.

FeralWitch · 30/09/2022 22:22

Earth Breeze laundry sheets.
Bamboo toothbrushes.
Dog food.
Posh vitamins for my skin.
Razor blades/shaving foam.

Woolandwonder · 30/09/2022 22:27

Razor blades
Cat food and litter
Contact lenses

automatic home deliveries literally save my sanity! with kids, pets and full time jobs it’s the best thing ever. I will do anything to lessen my mental load - yes, checking the cupboards is a total no if I don’t have to and things just arrive. this way, we only ever buy food so don’t need to think about anything other than the fridge.

we get these things in various cadence (3-6 monthly deliveries)

too many things to list but a good 50 items probably.

Iliketulips · 16/01/2025 14:29

DH subscribes to HB ink and I to cat food on Amazon as it's cheaper and easier. Anything else for us is easy to buy as we go along with groceries, toiletries.
