Resignation letter

Frankly it’s been an absolute shower of shit since I commenced the role they won’t take on a word of feedback if I offer them any kind of information as to why I’m leaving, one lovely lad i used to work with gave them a three page letter detailing everything wrong with the place they just justified it and just said yeah he was crap.

so I quite simply just cannot be arsed with it all do you think I could just send an email saying this is my four weeks notice, I believe my last day is X regards Sally ?

Yes that’s all you’re required to do. I did the same myself today - you don’t owe them anything

theydontspeakforus · 29/09/2022 22:12

Do that, but will you get an exit interview? Can you ask for someone from HR / line manager to be there?

MajorCarolDanvers · 29/09/2022 22:14

Just give notice.

You might want a reference from them in the future.

Keep it simple and courteous.

When I've loathed a place/person I always write: I'd like to thank you for, etc......
Meaning I'd like to but I can't. Simple pleasures. Grin

I fully intend to give notice I’m not suggesting I’m just gonna walk out the door and tip a table of her anything tempting as that is.

I absolutely love that I’m so going to use it but to be honest with you I think they’re so thick it would just go over their heads. But I’ll enjoy it

Just keep it basic and to the essentials. That's all I ever do, I might put something nice in if I am sorry to leave I think at my last job I said that I had enjoyed my time there and was sorry to be leaving but commute/future opportunities etc. I had already spoken with the boss though.

Raknin76 · 09/12/2022 14:52

I've recently handed in my notice, always best to keep it short and sweet and avoid turning it into an unnecessary rant about anything you hate about the job (although that would be nice if you hate the place). You could include the following:

Name, job role, month you started (and year), month you finished, state if you'll be working your notice to provide admin handover etc or if you'll be resigning with immediate effect.

If there is additional things you want to bring to their attention include a letter as an attachment. Then close the episode, try to forget about it and get on with your life.

I've only ever given 1-2 sentence resignations.

Footballmyarse · 09/12/2022 16:41

This is why I dream of winning a huge amount on the lottery.

I’d email my boss:

”Seeya, fucksticks. I’m never coming back you horrible cow.. P.S I know you fiddle your clock in times and I’ve emailed head office.”

But in the real world, yes, just factual.
