What time does your 2year old go to bed?

... and nap etc if still napping? Interested for comparison as we've had some difficulty with ours going down recently.

Ours is 2years 3 months and has bath at 7.15 followed by into bed around 7.40 but awake till 8.15ish protesting.
Nap is usually around 12.30-1.30.

Mine is up at 7.30-8 with a 6.30 bed time.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 01/10/2022 19:50

At that age always after 9 if they’ve napped in the afternoon.

JJsdadisatwat · 01/10/2022 19:53

God, don’t ask.

She was 2 in August. Falls asleep anytime around 9:45pm on a good night, 11pm on a bad. The man fidgets lost of the night, waking up for a couple of mins every hour or so, usually wants milk in the mall hours as she is such a poor eater so wakes up starving. She wakes for the day at about 8am, naps for maybe an hour and a half or two hours in the day.

Tried waking her after 45 mins but it didn’t help the late bedtime.

Thank christ we co sleep or id be done in, at least we don’t have to leave bed to comfort her.

(I’m not stressed about it though, she’s my third and in the blink of an eye, she’ll be off at uni like her big brother, it all goes so fast).

The man? She fidgets. I’ve lost my glasses, hence the typos.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 01/10/2022 19:54

We’ve had to limit nap to 1hr and put to bed at 8pm
if they skip nap it’s 7pm
they need far less sleep than my eldest

Mine were very varied.
At 2yo:
Dd1 Napped from about 1:30-4:30pm, down at 8:30pm, slept until 8:30/9am.
DD2 had dropped her nap, and would go to bed around 9:00pm and wake once in the night needing resettling and then wake for the day between 5 and 8am.
Ds napped from 10-11/11:30am, then would go down about 7pm waking between 6 and 7am.

Dd1 is an adult and still likes her sleep, she can easily not get up until after midday if she's nothing on.
Dd2 tends to have several nights where she stays up far too late and gets little sleep, and then does a very long sleep to catch up.
Ds is mid teens and still tends to wake between 6 and 7am, but does occasionally, in the last couple of years, lie in until as late as 10am.

2 year 11months DC;
Bed-8pm.

Wakes-between 7 and 8am. Usually 8.

Sometimes has a hour nap in the afternoon sometime between 1 & 3pm.

Oatsamazing · 01/10/2022 21:24

My DD is 2 in just over a week

Goes to sleep between 8-8.30pm
Naps 1.5 hours from 12pm
Up between 5-5.30am

Reading that so many posters 2 year olds sleep 12 hours at night is depressing. My DD still wakes 1-2 times a night too.

Tomorrowisalatterday · 01/10/2022 21:28

Sounds like yours is getting ready to drop the nap

Mine is now 3 but when 2 was in bed at 7pm with a two hour nap

TheTeddyBears · 01/10/2022 22:08

Mine is 2yrs and 9 months. She's an absolute nightmare to get to sleep. If she has a nap it's even worse.

On my days off she doesn't nap and hasn't for a long time. I get her up about 8am most days and she's usually sleeping around 9pm sometimes later, occasionally sleeping by 8.30pm. Nursery days when she goes for a nap usually around 30mins then bedtime is more 9.30pm sometimes even later 🙈 wkends she will sleep to about 9am sometimes but bed time still the same, still a nightmare!

When she was younger her bedtime was 7-7.30pm it's just gradually got later as she doesn't seem tiered or just screams house down!

Normalmumandwife · 01/10/2022 22:18

9-11, 1-3, 7- 7am

Always a good sleeper

maryd84 · 01/10/2022 22:52

My son is 2. He goes to bed at 8pm. Gets up at 7.30am. Has a nap from 12.30 to 2.30. He has always been a very good sleeper.

NatalieH2220 · 01/10/2022 22:54

Turning 2 next month and bed is around 8/8.30pm but he goes up by 7.30pm.

Nap is ideally 11.30-1.30 but is usually later when at nursery/childminder (12.30-2.30) hence the later bedtime.

If it makes you feel better, the hours DS is awake are relentless. He is high energy and never stops running around and destroying things.
When I break down and want to cry during the day I remind myself I'm lucky to get the 12 uninterrupted hours of peace.

bathorshower · 01/10/2022 23:12

To make the parents of bad sleepers feel better, DD used to sleep for 9 hours at night and 2 in the day. We managed to get her onto 11pm - 8am as that worked for us. People would ask why she didn't go to bed at 7 - I didn't want to get up at 4am.... Oh, and she woke several times a night.

Abouttimemum · 01/10/2022 23:14

At that age DS napped 11.30-1ish and went to bed between 7-7.30 and slept until about 6.30.

He’s 3.5 now and he sleeps 7.30-6.30 without the nap.

He’s always slept about 11 hours, sometimes a bit less.

Abouttimemum · 01/10/2022 23:15

I will add that he wakes up at 6.30am no matter what time he goes to bed. On holiday recently he was going to bed about 10pm every night and still waking at 6.30am so it’s in our best interests to get him to bed early lol.

squirrelnutkins1 · 01/10/2022 23:18

1-3
7-7

pumpkinspice31 · 01/10/2022 23:22

23M

Up 6/6.30am.
Nap 10.30ish for an hour.
Bedtime 6/6.30pm

If she's napped later (in car etc) she goes to bed at 7pm.

Some days she doesn't nap at all.

elevenplusdilemma · 01/10/2022 23:23

Bath at 6, bed at 6:30, asleep by 7. Naps for 60-90 mins at 1 ish. Wakes around 6:30am.

LillyLeaf · 01/10/2022 23:36

26 months.

Naps 1pm - 2.30 (sometimes less at nursery)

Up stairs for a bath at 6.45-7

Try to get him into bed between 7.30 - 7.45, he can fall asleep in minutes or be awake until 8.15-8.30 (if it's a nursery day he'll have napped less so falls asleep earlier).

Morning, awake at 7.15am, sometimes later if we let him sleep.

Michaelawoods · 13/11/2024 19:41

Omg reading all these comments is making me think what the hell!!!!!

my 2 year old is a nightmare for the last few months. Is waking any time from 4:30 up for the days it’s ridiculous. Tried everything.
He was a great sleeper when he was a baby.

later bed time, no nap during the day which obviously is extremely difficult to do when there up that early. It’s very hard at the moment as we have a nearly 6 month old who is great for sleeping at night,

wishIwasonholiday10 · 13/11/2024 19:54

28 months
Nap 12:30-2pm (sometimes a bit longer)
Bath at 7:15pm then stories and milk and try to get into cot by 8:15pm. Have also had some bedtime battles recently where she wouldn’t settle until 9:30 ish.
Up around 7 or 7:30am.

Starting to resist the nap too but still falls asleep eventually. Maybe getting ready to drop the nap?
