Head lice removal without combing?

Is it possible??

DS is 11 and autistic. He got head lice whne he was small and combing was hell.

he has major issues with brushing, combing, cutting.

thankfully he did not get them once throughout primary. I did check his hair, often when he was lying on me, he has always tolerated that.

he's point blank refusing to use the comb. His hair isn't short, but not overly long either.

I have bought Hedrin once as that's all they had in the chemist. The one you leave on for 15 minutes which would be ideal as he wouldn't like keeping it on for too long but is it effective without combing?

please help. I've also applied Hedrin to the rest of us and going to comb us too. I've just applied Hedrin to him, will keep it in as long as poss.

also have normal tea tree shampoo and kids Vosene shampoo!

Thanks all. Does anyone know if plastic combs are effective at all? Only ever used nitty gritty (I've been through a few) but it's the metal of the nitty gritty he doesn't like so thinking of attempting combing with a plastic comb. Will look at other suggestions, thank you.

Will he let you use a hairdryer in his hair? I found after literally years of despair with one DD with fine blonde hair who was almost constantly infested that they buggered off for good once we/she started drying her hair

I have found that treating once a week for three weeks got rid of them completely. First treatment kills the live ones, second one kills the ones that have hatched since before they are nature enough to lay their own eggs, third one finishes off any that might have hatched a bit late.

*Mature not nature

Remember the white bits are empty and don't need removing. You only need to get live ones out!

You might find that massaging his scalp first will desensitise it for him to tolerate the combing/ cutting/ shampooing better.

Thanks all for the suggestions. We managed to give it a thorough comb this afternoon. Smothered his hair in conditioner and took our time and money as a reward - worked a treat 🤦‍♀️😅

will hopefully get it combed again over the weekend just in case we missed any!

Hi just wondering people's opinion. Ive just treated my daughters hair for head lice with a 15min shampoo. Ive tried to rinse it out but shes screaming the house down and waking her baby brother. Do you think its ok to leave until morning? I have rinsed it quite a bit but still lots left in. Any opinions would be appreciated thanks
