Just wondering how practical they are? How costly are they ? Information on the internet appears confusing as i am not sure if monthly subscription?

If working in an office how does that feel too for someone under 45....or any age for that matter...

@repeatplease (good user name )

If you're in London insist on being sent to Royal National Ear Nose and Throat on Huntley Street (now part of UCLH) theyre the rolls royce of hearing departments!

do you have any advice on how you get referred there? Is it just a question of asking the GP and hoping they'll agree ?

Having come out of local hospital audiology deprtment in tears ( their opening greeting was "why are you here - youre too young to be deaf"!!! went to GP and asked to be sent to Royal National etc. In all fairnes was pre pandemic - but think You Chose means you can ask - also emphasise you are working so wonderful hearing aids will mean you can work!! Best of luck

Might be off topic but the New York Times had an article about hearing aids suggesting that Apple I pods in some cases be a substitute.

Yes Huntley Street do hearing tests and supply aids of the latest design - on NHS. So free batteries too

I’ve got the Bluetooth and they last about 5-8 days on a battery.

Does anyone find their ears ache by the end of day having them in though? Like it’s a relief to get them out once home ?

Do you mean the outer ear? My right ear is often uncomfortable so I think it must be a slightly different shape to the other one. I also wear glasses which doesn't help. I don't take them off until I go to bed though because my tinnitus just goes into screaming mode.

Do you mean in general?
Or the Bluetooth ones in particular?

DobbleDobble · 23/11/2022 20:36

Oh sorry I mean in general.Yes 1 ear seems to be more uncomfortable towards end of day

purpleme12 · 23/11/2022 20:46

I often forget they're in they've become so natural now so I don't find them uncomfortable at the end of the day myself

Ah! I keep having to poke the wire back in too quite a lot :-( as I said upthread have been looking at some AirPod type aids through soecsavers but at £2700 I’m undecided 🤷🏼‍♀️

NotMyDayJob · 23/11/2022 21:54

My ears ache a bit, but I have thick tubes so I think they pinch a bit more than the more flexible wire type.

But also I am glad to take them out because the world is so loud!
