I want to make some flapjacks, snack stuff for the kids, healthy type, so not too indulgent... but not really wanting to turn the oven on! I've an air fryer.

Any fridge or airfryer friendly recipes of there??

Thanks in advance...

So far I haven't found any normal oven bake recipe I haven't been able to do in an air fryer, the only thing I haven't tried yet is meringue.

BigFatLiar · 28/09/2022 11:00

Not a bake but if it's for kids what about getting some corn kernels and making popcorn.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 28/09/2022 11:19

I make these peanut butter bites but add in whatever dried fruit and seeds we have that the Dc will eat. They usually like a bit of dedicated coconut and raisins.

Rocky road/ rice Krispie squares/ chocolate cornflake cakes?

Just a case of melting the chocolate or marshmallows and then stirring everything in. No oven involved!

Porridgeaddiction · 28/09/2022 11:23

Also, no bake cheesecake. Cream cheese, cream and icing sugar, plus whatever flavours you want eg add biscoff spread, lemon juice and zest, Nutella, strawberries, etc put on a biscuit base made of digestives and melted butter

gogohmm · 28/09/2022 11:23

Another vote for rocky road - can add dried fruits, crushed biscuits etc.

If you have a microwave, mug cakes are good too

gogohmm · 28/09/2022 12:42

Just do bear in mind that more expensive ingredients will cancel out not using the oven. Baking fairy cakes (butterfly cakes were my kid's favourite) is cheap if you use shop margarine, use the rest of the oven to cook something else, bread plaits are fun to make with children

It's for very hungry teenagers rather than little ones. Trying to fill them up, grab and go stuff, without ££££. Sounds like most things can be done in the air fryer?? Might need to look at what I've got to fit the airfryer that I can bake in!!

Rains in and flapjack cookies work well in the air frier, I freeze the uncooked but shaped dough then fry 6 as needed

Cream together
4oz butter
4oz sugar
4 oz brown sugar

Mix in an egg, 2tbsp water and vanilla essence

Weigh out
9oz oats
4oz Sr flour4oz raisins

Stir the wet stuff into the dry stuff

Take walnut sized balls, press flat and air fry a few at a time at 180 degrees for 7 mins

Not healthy due to the sugar but plenty of fibre and they're quite filling.

BettySweaty · 28/09/2022 14:25

Looks fab, thanks Doodle, they can go on the list!

You can easily make energy balls by just blending dates, cashew nuts, and cocoa in a food processor and shaping into balls. You can also add many other ingredients like seeds, dried fruit, desiccated coconut etc.

You need to search for the Protestant Traybake threads. I'm on my phone so can't but there's a bunch.

Northern Ireland Fifteens - basically 15 of:

Digestive biscuits
Glacé Cherries
Marshmallows
Condensed milk (150 cl)

Recipe easy to find online. Extremely easy to make!

MrsLemonySnicket · 28/09/2022 15:19

Energy balls. Chopped dates, desiccated coconut, honey, seeds..anything really. Whizz it up and roll into little balls. Keep in fridge.

I’ve got a microwave flapjack and microwave millionaires shortbread recipe.
Neither are healthy though!

Whydidimarryhim · 28/09/2022 15:24

Tiffin cake

ProlifiInProfanity · 28/09/2022 15:28

microwave flapjacks. I actually use light brown sugar as it makes them more golden, I use less syrup too.

microwave millionaire’s shortbread. She gives different microwave wattage timings in other posts. I use 10g less sugar than she says in all cases and 90g butter in with the condensed milk rather than her full amount. I found it far too sweet otherwise & it’s sweet as it is with the reductions.

Are Catholic's allowed to eat these?
