What are you wearing to stay warm?

Like most people, I'm trying not to put the heating on. I work from home and by lunch time I am frozen. I've been wearing my dressing gown over the top of my clothes, but would like something I could answer the door in. I don't want to live in a dressing gown. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Original oodies here - so fab & a very recent gift to each of us from fil.

A hot water bottle on my lap makes a huge difference. I’m surprised no one else has mentioned one. Oh And I keep a nice chunky cardigan on the back of my work chair to wear like a dressing gown if I get cold (& much more acceptable for wearing on work call, answering the door or popping out to the corner shop than a dressing gown!)

I suggested hot water bottles at 23:55.

I think we are lucky that the weather is so mild for November . I was camping this week (fishing) and during the day sat outside in joggers and t shirt. Even at night in the tent it wasn't at all cold. When it does get cold though I've got a gravity blanket on the bed which is amazing for keeping you warm and we have loads of throws to layer us when we are on the sofa. Thermal socks are a must too as I hate having cold feet.

Guessing from your username you are down south. It's not been very mild up north - down to 5 degrees some days Sad

Ski trousers from Decathlon, can wear them under jeans. All the men on the market do, too.

Workwear fleece from eBay and my husbands old rugby shirts. I also liberated my daughters Jack Wills trackie bottoms. I’ve also got an Andy Pandy onesie that is quite warming.

Punkypinky · 11/11/2022 02:17

A really thick long cardigan which is similar to a dressing gown but as someone else said up thread it's just more socially acceptable for zoom calls and door answering.

I also do (fake) uggs for slippers with double socks.

I think of them as my inside coat and shoes and change into them instantly after being outside.

At the moment I'm wearing a massive bear onesie with a hood. Underneath that I have some thermal leggings and a thermal vest. I am toasty warm.

jamespipe · 11/11/2022 05:11

Fleece jacket.

Chloefairydust · 11/11/2022 05:26

Just ordered an oodie and I have high hopes for it, there’s a sale on them at the moment. Your also welcome to use my discount code GETOODIE for £25 off

I have been using an electric throw in the house, that’s pretty good too.

Logoplanter · 11/11/2022 05:29

I love the fact that because it's still warm where some posters are they can't comprehend that it could be cold in other parts of the country 🙄🤣

I've been wearing my onesie when WFH, sometimes with a thermal long sleeved top from M & S underneath and I'm lovely and toasty. Also fleece leggings under jeans or joggers, a thermal top, a t-shirt and thick jumper which is more presentable for work calls/answering the door. Always wear slipper boots and socks

I've also got a heated blanket which I've had over my knees on really cold days and it keeps me lovely and warm...until I get up!

Layers
I used long sleeve fitness t shirts underneath my t shirts, works really well

We have a vintage shop in town snd they sell Norwegian & Scandinavian jumpers. They are ridiculously warm & I buy one every year.

This year I got a massive long Norwegian cardigan. I wear normal clothes/layers and throw the cardigan on top of whatever I'm wearing. It keeps me very warm. (I WFH). If I go out in the car I usually just go out as I am adding a hat/scarf/gloves if I need to. No need for a coat on top of the Cardy.
