We are taking my friend on a significant birthday trip in November and I'm looking for the following:

  1. A nice hotel with a pool
  2. A nice place to have brunch
  3. Wet weather afternoon activities in case our original plan (outdoors!) gets rained off.

It doesn't have to be Canterbury - we'll have cars, so anywhere within half an hour or so is fine. We're after nice rather than location!

All recommendations gratefully received!

Eastwell Manor is lovely for a spa day and it has a nice restaurant. Also not far from Canterbury.

Thank you! We're not really spa-y people, but my friend would love to have a proper swim - is that doable there?

Broome Park has a pool. It would fit the bill for occasion hotel depending on your budget.

Wet weather wise there's the theatre or museums? What sort are you interested in?

Cave Hotel in Boughton has a pool.

Avoid the travellodge there at all costs. I stayed last year while looking at the uni and it was a dump.

Have a poke around on booking.com and see what nice hotels pop up.

Try the Pig at bridge for food - excellent

The cave at Boughton has a lovely small pool and excellent food but no other spa treatments as such. Quite a modern feel.

other food options - The Sportsman at Seasalter do an excellent tasting menu , more rustic

if you are looking for silver service then Reads in Faversham is lovely too.

wet weather options :
Canterbury Cathedral
Dover Castle
curzon cinema or Marlowe theatre for a show
if you are thinking more of an activity, I’ll have a think. My head is full of things for children to do rather than grown ups !

Sorry I missed you wanted a brunch. Hands down the best brunch in Canterbury is The Refectory Kitchen , you can’t book but it’s well worth the wait if you have to queue

Yes it's a lovely pool! If it's not too imminent you could go and have a look. The grounds are fantastic to wander round as well. www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjlo97w5LX6AhWYQkEAHRr6BpgQFnoECBIQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.champneys.com%2Fhotels%2Feastwell-manor%2Fhealth-spa%2F&usg=AOvVaw3EWypOoVX43P952QmFjEPt

Piggybacking on this as I was in Canterbury last week (Kent coast) and would like to know what to do when I return.

I know the Marlowe theatre etc but apart from that and a few others nothing.
