More Candles than usual
more cushions than I need
small squashes arranged arty farty style around the place . DH complains the living room looks like a green grocers but I love them .
fake autumnal flowers in a vase
More throws on the furniture than I need.
start bringing in wood and arrange in pile by the burner.
break out the slow cooker / insta pot.
more soup on the menu
neom ( or other ) room diffuser
fancier more fragrant soaps in the bathrooms

Twinkly lights (I've just bought some copper fairy lights for the bedroom), low level lighting like lamps, candles, throws (inc heated). We usually also put an autumn leaf garland up, across the ceiling like bunting.

Great tips, keep them coming! So unmotivated & cold! Determined not to put the heat on until October 1st!

I put a single duvet on my armchair to sit on, with a brushed cotton duvet cover on it. It warms up really quickly.

Next week I am off to my favourite soft furnishing warehouse and buying some burgundy/cream checked fleeces for sofa's and big burgundy check cushions.
More candles for my consul glass table which reflects the candle light, changing my voile curtains to heavier cream drapes small twinkle lights above the large mirror to give off a gentle glow all nice and cheaply done.

We aren't putting the heating on yet but I find just lighting candles makes the place feel cosy and warmer.

Thank you for the thread. I second all the other things.

I buy a really good book to read on winter evenings,
Comfort food like mash and cooked onions with a thick delicious gravy.
Good walking boots for autumn and winter walks with the dogs.
Collect chestnuts, acorns and pretty leaves for a display on the kitchen table. Photograph the trees changing colour.
New cosy autumn clothes and chunky knits and tights.
Stock up the cupboards for winter and snow.
Put cold weather items in the car ready for the first frost.
Brambly hedge stories so I don't get depressed but welcome the change of season as I love sunlight.

Lentil stews
Squashes in bowl on table
Wool blankets on the arm of the sofa
Candles
Fire lit
apple cake baking

I'm planning to do this over the next week or so here too.

My scent diffuser is about to run out so I'll be replacing that with an autumn / winter one.

I have some woollen blankets that are currently being washed. Once they're nice and clean I'll put them on the back of chairs, and I want to get another for the back of the sofa.
Me and DH have one each while watching tv in the evenings.

When it starts going dark, put on lamps, close doors and curtains.
Wear warm slippers.

I use lots of candles - they add an instant cosy feeling, as does the smell of comfort food cooking (a roast is my favourite).

Ooh would love a recommendation for an autumn scent/diffuser!

I have an autumn leaves wreath for on the front door. It really makes the house feel welcoming. I also have led pillar candles in lanterns on the doorstep
