Interesting the number of people on amitriptyline. On a tiny dose I was a complete zombie. I'll admit it helped me sleep, waking up was the problem! I couldn't function on it.

Same here. I had to take it a lot earlier than recommended or I just couldn't get out of bed in the morning at all and I was still a zombie for most of the day.

For amitriptyline the trick is to take it 12 hours before you want to get up. Then you don't get the hangover dopey feeling the next day. I used to set my alarm for 6.30pm every day to take mine.
Worked well for sleep but had to come off it for other issues.
