Is a wool duvet worth buying?

We need a new winter duvet and I'm sick of buying polyester ones that just don't last. I don't like feather duvet so have come across wool filled.
Does anyone have one and are they warm or are they too warm or heavy? Want an opinion befor spending so much on a duvet!

One big downside of silk duvets - how the silk is harvested Sad

We have the summer light one and a thicker one. When it's freezing we have both on the bed. We have silk duvet cover and pillowcases and a wool and silk mattress. What I like is that it feels warm when you get in bed almost straight away but you are not too hot. Loads of money all in, but well spent.

I've just ordered a wool room duvet after much looking! I've never spent so much on a duvet, fingers crossed it's the one

Mine is from there! My dad got it me for Christmas 2 years ago, said "how much?!"
Then he did the dad thing of prodding it, going "hmm" and next thing I know, he's got a wool room duvet on his bed ConfusedGrin and loves it

Everyone here has a Baavet.

Even the dog.

Best duvets ever.

Yes I get mine from fogarty I think and use it all year round.

Brilliant if you are menopausal too.

Dh had one, but when he stored it away over summer, bugs got in and it was full of larvae when he brought it out for winter.

😱that's something I didn't consider!

Yes yes yes. We all have cheapy Fogarty ones (I have washed the singles in the machine by the way for the PP asking) but would love to upgrade ours at some point.

Another Baavet from the bargain box here. Make sure you keep the benefit of the duvet by using cotton bedding too (not poly cotton).

I think ours is the 400g one or thereabouts. We use it all year and it's fine apart from the hottest days.

Hang it outside regularly to air. Yes, you aren't supposed to wash them but then it's always in a cover so not sure why you need to since it's naturally antibacterial.

Well we bought a wool room classic super king warm and I love it! Not sweaty hot just toasty 😊 it's quite thin but feels heavy if you know what I mean!
I've just ordered a single for dd in the black Friday sale!
I've got a 10% code if anyone is buying, I get 10% also but won't be using my end as think dh will kill me if I spend any more money on duvets!!

Wool Duvet from soak and sleep. Clips together so you have summer, autumn and winter weight. Really great for night sweats in peri menopause, regulates the body. You don’t wake up with that clammy feeling.

wool duvets don’t really need cleaned as much. I’ve had it washed at laundromat a few times. And hang it out on line to air sometimes on a nice day.

olympicsrock · 23/11/2022 07:00

Yes - we bought one from the wool room 2 years ago when I was perimenopause.
super light, warm in winter , cool in summer and no sweats. Both DH and I love it. We used to have a sheet and thin woolen blanket in summer but now just have the wool duvet all year round.
a good quality one smells ‘sheepy when you first buy it but this slight smell goes after 2 weeks.

big thumbs up here

I love my wool duvet. It’s a Floks one. I would never sleep under feather again.
