Painting a crib

Does anyone know about paint?

We were given a small crib by a family member for our DD due in October. The crib is to go in our room until she is 6 months old, as the bigger cot is too ig for our room.

The crib was pink and scratched and I wanted to refresh it by painting it white.
I stupidly bought furniture paint without doing any research and I've started painting it.
It turns out this paint is high on VOCs which I now know aren't great!

My question is - once the paint is dry, will the crib be safe for DD to sleep in, or do I need to remove the paint somehow start again? How would I even go about removing oil based paint safely?
Or could I paint over it with low or no VOC paint?

There are special baby safe paints you can use on cots.
you can absolutely paint a crib but you'll have to get the correct paint since baby's safety always comes first. When picking the paint for the crib, it's imperative you look for paint that has zero VOC, odorless and is non-toxic for the little one.

I think you, for peace of mind, would have to strip/sand it then repaint.
