Birthday party advice 10yo DD

Help!
i know this sounds a stupid question, we have recently returned from abroad to the UK and adD is very out of touch with what’s cool and what’s not in the UK - she can sometimes be very young for her age because she hasn’t had the chance to do some things growing up that we’d have done in the UK.

anyway, it’s her 10th birthday coming up and she’s wants to go pottery painting, I’m all for it if she’s wants to (she loves crafty things) but she’s had a few bumps startling into her new school and I don’t want her to invite new friends to an activity they will find boring and / lame and have a negative effect on the budding friendships. I don’t know any of the other mums at all, to ask advice.

what do you think? Is a pottery painting party at 10 too young? Or still ok? Any other suggestions for things to do to cement friendships?

My DD did pottery painting for her 10th party and it was a big hit.

Pair it with something, like pizza afterwards?

Mysa74 · 25/09/2022 10:07

My 10 to would love pottery painting, pizza afterwards would be a welcome bonus, as would birthday cake. They still like candles at 10 🎂

Oh thank you! Yes was going to go to the local pizza place afterwards probably, or something similar!
great, will book it then - just didn’t want to accidental inflict social death on her!!

My DD is about to turn 12 and both she and her best friend want to have pottery parties. I think it's a good idea.

For my DDs 9th birthday I bought some little ceramic animals and paints, had some stones standing by just as a 10 minute while they were settling down activity.
They were still at 30mins later, while I found them more stuff to paint.

I think it will come completely down to the group.

My 10yo dd would love that!

I took my kids pottery painting in the holidays (9,7 and 4). It was a big hit with all of them. My only disappointment was that I didn't do it as I was supervising them! In my experience, it's perfect for all ages.
