How to check business license? Operating hours

Hope everyone's Saturday night is going well. Mine could be better :( We have commercial entity close to us/ a cafe actually and the sound coming from the venue is becoming unbearable (started maybe around 6PM tonight, proper night club beats). I was wondering where I can possibly check what there operating hours are supposed to be? Can they play lound music etc. It doesn't fall under planning application, does it? It should rather be some sort of business license.

It would be great if someone with better knowledge could advise on the matter.

Anyone? I really didn't see myself living pretty much next to night club in my thirties 😐

You could make a start on checking out their opening hours on the web.
As for the legalities, I can't help you, but if they are a licensed premises, I would imagine if you did a more detailed search it would come up - perhaps someone with more knowledge will come along. (I know licensed premises are only licensed for the hours the court agrees to.
I'm wondering if you knew this place was there before you moved? Or has it only recently become a problem?

Check your local council website - they should have a listing of all the licences relating to alcohol, entertainment and late night food traders that they've issued under the Licensing Act 2003.

@vipersnest1 unfortunately only recently a problem. It was fine all summer. It wasn't there when we moved either.

I kept on googling but couldn't find anything useful in particular.

Hmm, I called local council noise team and was promised a call back... Unlikely to receive it tonight but will keep on going.

Hello. I work at a council - This would come under licensing - you can make a complaint to the local council licensing team who will then check out the cafe licence conditions. It might be that the cafe has applied for a TENS (temporary event notice) as a one off - it might be birthday party or something going on down there- this allows them to have live or recorded music, sell alcohol etc.
If this is happening all the time though then they'd need to have the proper licence in place - if they applied to extend their hours or to sell alcohol / have music this would all be published on the council website then if anyone wants to object they can (within a certain time frame) and then the council would either say they can only have XYZ or maybe nothing at all depending on the reasons for the objection.

You can also report the noise if it goes on after 11pm to environmental health - hope this helps x

Sorry forgot to add - the type of licence is called a premises licence. They should have it displayed somewhere in the cafe where customers can see it along with any authorised persons such as licensing officers, police etc x
Maybe go for a coffee tomorrow and see if you can spot it! X

@23Elfie wow, that's very detailed answer and thanks so much for that. That's all understood. Never straight forward.

To be honest I already started complaining about them (there are more commercial site than just cafe and more issues mainly noise related). The owner of the place basically came over and said he would buy the house for a good price if only we stopped the complaining process... We said we will think about it. But it might be the best thing to do given the situation... 😪😪
