Nappies that are bigger?

My dd is 2 and currently wears size 6+ (20kg+) from the Asda Little Angles range. These are £5 for 46 nappies. They’re getting a little tight now and I was hoping someone could please tell me if they know of any nappies that are bigger than this size but don’t cost loads. So not Pampers.

We can’t really afford to spend much more than what we currently do as we have a baby in nappies also and it’s so expensive. Thank you

I think 6+ is the biggest size in traditional nappies, have you tried pull ups?

mummyh2016 · 24/09/2022 17:11

Switch to pull ups or try another brand. Where are they tight, legs or stomach? Are the tabs on their loosest?

Lidl come up big in the smaller sizes but I haven’t used size 6 yet

Aldi Mamia used to go up to a 7+ and then pampers do an 8 (my LO moved out of nappies at 3 but still pooped in one until 4/5). We had to switch to pampers when Aldi stopped at 7+ but I’ve just checked the 7 nappy pants are 17kg+

Its so tricky, my LO 2.5 is in a pampers 7 which is 15kg+

SheWoreYellow · 24/09/2022 17:15

Are you sure you need bigger? I only ask because on the adverts they show them with the tabs at the tightest ‘setting’ I think, but you could put them much looser.

FlounderingFruitcake · 24/09/2022 17:18

Huggies pull ups in an age 2-4? Boots seem to have then on offer more often than not so they don’t work out too expensive.

The4ks · 24/09/2022 17:32

Can't remember which brand but you definitely get size 7 nappies.
My son has autism so was in nappies during the day till age 4. Got them prescribed through the nhs though. Still wears drynites overnight which go up to early teen size.
Would she be ready to try potty training then at least you would only need night time ones? Agree they get very expensive.

LunaCrystal · 25/09/2022 02:11

Thank you for all the tips! They’re definitely getting too tight, noticeably the tummy even though the tabs are on as loosely as possible @SheWoreYellow @mummyh2016 Plus they’ve started to leak lately overnight

We haven’t tried pull ups, I think it sounds like that’s our next step then. The Huggies 2-4 sound good, just a lot more expensive. Will have to look at deals @FlounderingFruitcake

@The4ks Even though she is very nearly 3 she is stubbornly refusing to potty train. She’s very intelligent and has excellent speech and understanding. She just doesn’t want to, so I see no reason to pressure her.

I’d rather do it when she wants to as that’s more positive for her. But gosh I wish she would hurry up as if we have to get Huggies it’s going to be so much more expensive 😩

Thank you everyone and anymore tips will be much appreciated

Pull ups aren't as absorbent, if ordinary nappies are leaking then pull ups won't solve the issue. You'd be best with pull ups in the day then at night size up or try the Huggies night time ones.

The4ks · 25/09/2022 09:15

Oh absolutely don't push her if she isn't ready! I understand about that.
Hope you find a (not too expensive) solution soon.

Yes you do get day and night pull ups! If you do go that route then don’t use the daytime ones at night.

Re potty training I know it’s not the point if your thread but she sounds a lot like my DD, I thought just like you and I’ll admit now that I was so wrong and training was a horrific battle of wills. As a result DC2 will be training no later than 2 as I just can’t do it like that again.

Tesco do size 7+ in their own brand

MinervaTerrathorn · 25/09/2022 09:36

Is she 20+ kg at not yet three? Could it be that because they are a big size they are coming up high on her belly so further to go around, while a size down could fit as it's a lower rise? If they are too big on the legs they could cause leaking that way.

x2boys · 25/09/2022 09:42

Are you sure they don't fit her?
my son is disabled and didn't come out of nappies untill he was nine ,We got nappies provided by the NHS when he was five ,but he still fitted into size 6 nappies at five
Asda do a night and day pants ( pull ups ) aged 4-7 and libero do sizes 7 nappies.
