I currently pay £154 a month for 3 bedroom semi gas and electric

the charges shot up last year but that was expected

eonnext have said from Oct my new payment reduces to £87. Of course I’m going to contact them and say no but I might have been tempted and said yes

my last readings are 3 months or less

Any ideas?

Yes it's due to the government funding which reduces everyone's direct debit by £65 per month for 6 months

Bunnyfuller · 24/09/2022 00:30

But they don’t seem to have calculated in the price rise? I wouldn’t just sit on it or you may find yourself accruing a horrible debit balance.

SpinCityBlue · 24/09/2022 00:30

This is the reduction that you don't have to pay back any more, OP. Not you personally.

Why would you contact them and say no? Just make a payment to keep yourself out of debt. I'm £340 in credit. My payments are going from £190 to £150. I'm just keeping an eye and being thoughtful to what we use.

Bunnyfuller · 24/09/2022 00:34

I’m £300 in credit, they’re still putting ours up to 297, including the discount.

janetdreams · 24/09/2022 00:36

Mine's gone up to £309 for gas and electricity, from £267.00. Apparently the govt payment has been factored in.

Linnet · 24/09/2022 00:42

Maybe I should change my supplier, I got an email yesterday from my gas company saying they're going to increase my direct debit by almost £40!
I'm going to phone them on Monday to tell them not to as I'm over £400 in credit. They say that my bill will increase this winter by £300 so why if I'm in credit do they need to increase my direct debit?

OnTheBoardwalk · 24/09/2022 00:46

i'm only £88 in credit which is not a lot during the summer

I used to pay £80 till they doubled it which seemed reasonable

Neverhot · 24/09/2022 00:49

Just call them and say you still want your direct debit to remain the same. Or choose the one off payment option.

OnTheBoardwalk · 24/09/2022 01:07

Yeah that’s what I’m going to do but i could be tempted not to

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/09/2022 11:26

i have just checked
i was 112
then they wanted nearly 400
today they are saying £63!

OnTheBoardwalk · 25/09/2022 00:15

I don’t understand why they are suggesting reducing so much for people

I used to be consistent £80 a month. Was expecting an increase. I’ve no idea what I need to pay now
