So very wide awake. Got the fan on my legs, tried reading, watching netflix but not even slightly sleepy. Tomorrow is going to be a total write off. Sodding menopause..

Maybe you could sit up with my 4 year old while I sleep 😆

anotherbrewplease · 23/09/2022 04:34

Hello and welcome to my world ! I'm pretty much awake every day/night at 4 am.

If your 4 year old is cute - I'll watch for an hour or two - if they're being a pain, you're on your own.

Me too.

I have been waking up in the last few weeks between 4-5. I have no idea why I'm doing this. I had no idea it could be menopause. I don't have any other symptoms though. Im 41

Dogsgottabone · 23/09/2022 04:49

I get up at 4.30 so I can get some walking time in between 5 and 6 before school run and then work. How about I take your hot legs out for a cool rainy walk and you can snuggle back under the duvet?

I'm leaving in ten mins if that helps?

Westfacing · 23/09/2022 04:50

Have a nice walk - it's a bit dark!

SuspiciousBanana · 23/09/2022 04:50

I’ve been awake since 1am because OH had a headache. He’s now snoring like a massive big fat pig and I can’t sleep.

I sometimes to wake at stupid times and can’t get back to sleep, I’ve always been a victim to my hormones with that!

ColinRobinsonsfamiliar · 23/09/2022 04:53

So annoying isn’t it.
Thinking a million thoughts, awake.

Ok and add to all this… period fucking pains because yes, I’m still having periods which are heavy and painful each month.
This one is now 5 days overdue. But it’s coming, my stomach tells me that it’s coming..

Kezzie200 · 23/09/2022 05:07

I'm awake too.

Mum died in May and my brother has serious symptoms, not unlike hers. He's waiting on tests. I'm in a mess and have been since last Monday. Worried sick. Now awake.

Dogsgottabone · 23/09/2022 05:15

I've got a very strong head torch. Does freak me out a bit when I see animal eyes reflected back at me sometimes!

I hope everyone who is awake and doesn't want to be, gets through Friday OK.

DMJ45 · 23/09/2022 05:26

I'm awake as well! There's a noisy screechy owl nearby that woke me up, then started worrying about work tomorrow 😢
I don't dare go downstairs as the dog will think it's walk and breakfast time

MinnieMountain · 23/09/2022 05:43

Peri-menopause wake ups seem immune to anything. Previously reading would send me back to sleep.
5am is my norm now. At least the cat likes it.

Lizzy1980 · 23/09/2022 06:00

Around 3am is the time I wake up in a puddle! Horrible isn’t it

70billionthnamechange · 23/09/2022 06:16

I wake every night for around 3 pees. Normally the last one is between 3-4 and I don't get back to sleep. Then start nodding off as my alarm goes off. I ve aged. Surely this is a bladder problem? Huff

Resisterance · 23/09/2022 06:21

Wide awake too. Peri menopause here. Main symptom apart from the brain fog is chronic insomnia. Been awake since 3am and nearly time to get up. I feel your pain!

Also feel like I should be doing something useful with all the time I'm awake but too fried to do anything other than scrolling MN.

RudsyFarmer · 23/09/2022 06:28

Same. On HRT but still wake at 4am most nights.

Tryingmyb3st · 23/09/2022 08:07

Unfortunately couldn't get up and about as would have woken DD (who I can't leave as too young-its premature menopause). Ended up laying, then watching a few Gilmore Girls on my tiny screen phone, then listening to a true crime podcast before giving up on sleep completely.
Sorry to all those who are struggling too-the early hours are quite a lonely place.

Get some magnesium tablets, have an Epsom salt bath, and have a good bedtime routine. Alcohol doesn’t help.

Lookingformymarbles · 23/09/2022 08:10

8 years post (early) menopause here and yes, the early waking is still going on, exhausting and frustrating!

It's not every day thankfully, generally wake about 6 but in the last week I've woken at 3.45 and 4.45. Very occasionally I can get myself back to sleep by yoga breath work and counting sheep.
