Should I leave poor eBay feedback?

My trainers were falling apart and I couldn't afford new ones so I found a pair on eBay that were used but at least weren't falling apart. They were only £4 and £6 postage so a tenner altogether. They arrived today and I can put up with them looking a bit worn but they smell of smelly feet which I wasn't expecting. Perhaps I was naive to think someone wouldn't sell their trainers if they smelled? Should I have expected this or should I leave feedback about the smell? I'll try to stick them in the washing machine and hopefully then they'll last a few months as I really can't afford another pair. What would you do?

Ask the seller for a refund first. If they refuse escalate a complaint via eBay.

How were they described?I would ask for a refund as that is not acceptable. You can offer to return but the seller must pay the postage to return don’t accept anything else.Try a charity shop at least you can see what you are buying.

They were described as 'good used condition'

Don't put them in the washing machine if they still stink you wont be able to return them.

Request a return specifically using "Item not as described" as the reason.

Even private sellers who don't accept returns have to accept an item not as described return. INAD also means the seller has to pay the return postage.

They didn't mention that the trainers smelt on the description so they are not as described. They are unwearable due to the smell so not fit for purpose.

Did you manage to get a refund? Definitely not as subscribed if they didn't mention the stink.

They are a £4 pair of trainers.

Unless they specifically stated that they are fresh and free from smells then you are being totally unreasonable at that given price point.

Good used condition means the condition of the fabric for me. Put them in the washing machine a few times.

I would message the seller & see what response you get . Try putting them in a bag then put them in the freezer as meant to kill bacteria.

Amipreg1 · 30/09/2022 22:26

I would message them first, they may just be happy to refund you.

Try sprinkling bicarb in them, leave for 24 hours. Bicarb is great at soaking up smells.

The seller might be nose-blind to the smell of their own feet. Certainly don't leave bad feedback without contacting the seller first. Worn trainers usually smell, though, it's a fact of life. Your alternative is to accept that and try to get rid of the smell - google will give you tons of 'hacks' for this.

A lot of baby powder overnight is supposed to be very good for getting rid of stinky-feet smell.
