Anyone else noticed? I paid 49p for 6 white rolls last week and paid 75p today! Same product same package. Nothing different.

Asda but not Just Essentials (I think). Fruit loaf. 79p to 89p then redesigned packaging and now £1.40. Over a period of about eight weeks. Rip off. But have a look round Morrisons. So expensive, I don't know why anyone shops there.

The price of everything is soaring. It's not Asda, it's the whole world. I'm surprised you haven't noticed before.

Prices are going up in all the supermarkets. That is why it is a good idea to buy a bit extra of long life things you use, if you are able to. I have enough tinned tomatoes to last about 6 months. I do use a lot in my cooking though.

Haha sorry I know they're rising everywhere. It's not funny. But Asda made a promise they wouldn't increase their prices (especially the just essentials). I was just a bit shocked that it had gone up. It's not gone up online.

*Wouldn't increase the prices for just essentials items I.e basic items like rice and bread. Just to correct what I wrote above.

I don't know about a promise to not increase prices, but the fact is that Asda is a business, not a charity. Their reason for existence is to sell groceries at a profit, not be a source of cheap or affordable food, sadly.

The fact is that costs of raw ingredients, energy for manufacturing and transporting food and wages have increased, which increases the cost of the product to them, and hence the price they need to sell it at for them to make a profit.

Some very low priced items will make them very little profit and often take up a lot of space on the shelves. If they think they can increase the price of an item, and it keeps on selling (because 75 p for 6 rolls is still cheaper than average) then they will.

I think you may have got the Just Essentials range confused with their price locked products, they have promised these won't go up this year.

Totally agree - Asda Lurpak block £1.75 a year ago, £2.30 a month ago. Now £2.70. Petrol prices are falling, gas/electricity prices back to pre Ukraine invasion rates. No excuse for this but greed. Wouldn't be so bad if they didn't push this downmarket 'for the budget-conscious' image

I don't buy the just essentials range anymore. The quality has become really poor and the price has jncreased. I'd rather buy less but buy say the next quality of brand up.

I have to agree, DH had a scan appointment so I went into Morrisons while I was waiting. I am so glad that I have more choice locally regarding supermarkets, some products were upward of £1 dearer for some things - didn't matter whether they were branded or their own - prices were horrendous.
I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I went into town and decided to spend an M&S voucher - I got loads for £25 and it could all be frozen. Will have no issue going back there again if I'm in town.
