Last night and it came to me this morning!

storminabuttercup · 25/11/2022 07:55

I'm amazed that people often get it in one guess. Think my best was 13 and that was a fluke

InMySpareTime · 25/11/2022 09:00

@storminabuttercup the one guessers aren't playing the same way as the rest of us. They count letters, make best guesses on probable words and use Wikipedia to check for similar sentence structure. They only put in a guess when they're reasonably sure the whole page is correct.
It's a valid way to play, but I prefer uncovering the page organically and avoiding Googling as much as possible.

Thank you for explaining. I'm quite new to the game, I think I prefer my way, it's no fun unless it makes you swear 😃

ErrolTheDragon · 25/11/2022 10:12

It makes me swear, but I have to do it sitting on my hands rather than typing in guesses.Grin

BIWI · 25/11/2022 10:28

I have key words that I start with, to fill in the connections between phrases/sentences, and I also try to focus on the opening paragraph as much as possible, as later paragraphs can take you into completely different areas or subjects. E.g. in the one that was about Scotland, and Edinburgh being the capital, there was a paragraph later on about the percentage of the population that was from an ethnic background - so I went all round the houses guessing South East Asian countries for ages!

ErrolTheDragon · 25/11/2022 10:37

I wondered if anyone had got 'Athens' while doing the Edinburgh one and did a tour of the Peloponnese Grin
