Back to uni in a few weeks and looking for some advice. I’m really lucky to have a day completely covered childcare-wise where I should be able to watch both my lectures and do seminar prep (year 2 of a part time course)

I’ve already spunked £1300 on a wasted term of tuition fees where I had to interrupt due to morning sickness and pregnancy anxiety- so determined to do well this year.

The course is completely online and politics related- so I have already vowed to listen to podcasts around the house so I am up to date on policy, relevant political happenings and any current case studies. It’s too easy to look at shit on Reddit and waste hours on MN when baby is napping or playing.

just hoping my new timetable will help me use my time wisely!!!

Any other tips or words of wisdom from people who have done an undergrad or masters with a small baby?

Not with a small baby but with three very young kids (toddler, preschooler, school age) during lockdown. Not easy!

A video from my uni actually gave me the best piece of advice - view your study as work and act accordingly. I found it was very easy to view it as a hobby and always prioritised DH's work/the DCs above my study because it just seemed less important. Around exam/essay deadline time I'd have to take more time for myself but I should have just done it all along.

Also, hold yourself accountable. Set tangible goals (e.g. I will read 3 journal articles during this 2 hour period) and stick to them.
