I felt strangely affronted, rather than taking it as a compliment!

The cashier was a male approaching 70 (he told me), maybe everyone looks young when you get to that age? 😆

I got id-d once buying a individual Christmas pudding from M and S. I was in my early 20s, I think, so probably was on the cusp of looking underage. I thought it was hilarious that i might get trollied on the tablespoon of rum or whatever it was in the tiny xmas pud!
(I don't even like xmas pudding I was buying it for someone else...but I suppose thats what they all say...)

Ooh what a valid point.

That's me told, maybe you should have returned it to me with red pen all over it or something? Just to really prove your superiority?

Well, it rather undermines the authority with which you speak about the procedural and legislative framework when you can't actually spell it @Maverickess .

It rather undermines your pedantry when you can't quote properly.

I was once asked for ID in a shop by a young woman. I said I didn’t have any and she took a proper look at me and told me Actually you’re fine don’t worry about it. I was just glad to get the wine tbh

That's just a cop out and an excuse to start being an arse because you don't like being asked for something by someone there to serve.

Well if someone is refusing to serve me, am i expected to smile and thank them?

I'm 51 and got asked for ID by a 'child' (!) of about 20. I laughed and asked if he was joking, he replied and said everyone asks him for ID so he does the same back - and he was deadly serious and scowled! 😆

He had a point though Grin

I'm only 27, but people have gone from always asking my ID to still asking for my ID but then saying 'Jesus you're older than me'.

Such fun. Yes, 21 year old bar man, I am older than you. Shocker.
