What does being sedated feel like?

I’m waiting for an endoscopy. Top and tails.

Ive read that I will be given a sedative and a numbing spray for my throat.

So what does it feel like? How effective is it?

I had morphine on Monday and apart from making me feel a bit foggy headed, I didn’t get this high or sedated feeling I was supposed to get.

Ive had a general anaesthetic before and a local if that helps at all

I've had this a few times last time it was about 4/5 years ago I'm a male 60-ish now.
I had the throat spray and regretted it, the the next two times it was not that bad. IMO it makes up for not feeling worn out if I was to go for the genral knockout stuff.

My wife used to have the general anaesthetic but last time about 2 years ago took the spray and said "it went well."

Relax as much as possible, it helps.

Good luck.

It’s bit a like being drunk without the nasty side of being drunk! I love it 😂. Tell them you want the full dose, 3 voles I believe otherwise they just give what they see fit. Be very firm and explain about Monday, they will give you it.

You will be fine, will be over before you know it. The sedation makes time go very quickly.

let us know how you get on xxx

Thanks. I will make a note of this.

I don’t have an appointment as of yet. The waiting list is currently 2-3 months long.

Doctor I saw wasn’t happy with this and will be making a personal call to get me bumped up the list a bit more. So I still don’t know when it is.

He has also told me to go straight back to A&E any time I feel I need it as it will also give him the chance to ring again and again and more evidence as to why I need it asap.

Voles?

I found sedation pretty much the same as general anesthesia to be honest. I was slightly more aware of what was going on but only have a very vague recollection of anything that happened and didn't feel a thing. Was annoyed when they woke me up, albeit with a nice cup of tea, as I was having the best sleep ever!
