Come and tell me
I have been googling.
Which are better snuggly ones for over the bed ?
Or skinny ones for under the sheet?

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best electric blanket and best heated throw pages with loads of great options you can buy now that are loved by Mumsnet users. I have an Imetec single under blanket on our 6ft bed.
DH doesn't want one.
The under blanket has no ties and just lies flat, which I love.
It has 2 heat settings.
2 is the highest so I put it on 2 an hour or so before bed so the bed is cosy warm.
I then turn it down to 1 while I read or am on Mumsnet.
I never sleep with it on and unplug it before I fall asleep.

I have a silent night one that goes on the mattress, it's a sheepskin (faux) one

Get that one. It costs about 12p an hour on full heat, but whatever you do don't get into bed with the thermostat set to high. You will fall asleep and wake up 3 hours later boiling hot and needing a cup of tea. We've got economy 7 and use it all night on low.
I've also got the electric heating pad for your back from the middle of lidl. I keep forgetting I'm wearing it and trying to walk away from the plug.

Ours has dual control and a timer for 1 hr or 9hrs so in really cold weather you can leave it on all night. It's fab, especially as the radiator in the bedroom is currently bust.

I have a Slumberdown one. It is brilliant. You can have it on a timer so it turns itself off.
I usually put it one for an hour before bed. Bliss.

Can you tell me what blanket are you using with the smart plug? I've a Dreamland, but it starts in standby.

I love my leccy blanket.....sheer bliss getting I to a warm bed when it is freezing out! Got a dual control one but dh loves it too!

I have a Sherpa lined under blanket. Dual controlled. Best buy of last year. It's lush! Def recommend!

Monjardin12 · 14/01/2023 22:49

Electric heated throw used as a top sheet (it's washable) and it's fabulous. I also use it to snuggle under on the sofa.

FGSWhatNow · 14/01/2023 22:53

Do it, OP! I bought one during that cold snap at the back end of last year, I wish I'd got one years ago! It's a Silent Night one, bloody brilliant.

@scissorsandsellotape a heatpad is what I have. I use it like a hot water bottle for my feet in bed. Then, on cold days, I sit on it while working from home. Lovely: www.argos.co.uk/product/5028984

I have a heated throw that I keep on top of my q-size bed. About an hour before going to bed I turn it on high. Bed is toasty and blanket turns off after 4 hours.

I consider myself an expert and use mine 8 months of the year due to getting cold from circulation problems.

Home front Premium fleecy. Lancet that goes under your mattress protector and sheet is what you need. Essential spec:

*Dual controls so one of you can have it on and not the other.

*Each side also has two zones (feet and body) and you can have them set at different temperatures (so four heating areas in total)
*Timer so when it's not so cold or when you know you'll be cold in bed but tend to wake up with peri menopause sweating, you can set how many hours it stays on for. Choose between 1 to 9 hours.
*Easy to use and has a LCD display.

I hate staying with relatives /on holidays without it!

The one I've recommended isn't cheap to buy but they cost pence per hour and allow us not to have the heating on as high in the evenings. Don't go cheaper as you really won't have something as good. Make sure it's the Homefront PREMIUM FLEECY as they have one that doesn't say this which isn't as good.
