Finally got there. It was a proper struggle. Thinking it was a word no one had never heard of.

You were right, I sat down and wrote it all down on paper with what could go where and I saw it straight away

Great! Must remember my own advice for next time :)

Phew! Just couldn't get it this morning, came back to it tonight and almost lost it.

I really struggled too! Kept coming back to it throughout the day. Nearly threw the towel in!

I normally Wordle purely in the grid, if I've got a few letters I'll fill in blanks with an X to see if a possible word emerges like HXWXY (can you tell I'm still irked about yesterday's solution?)
But the paper and pencil come out when things get tough. As a keen cryptic crossworder, I often can't solve an anagram without writing the letters down in a scramble.

@BruceAndNosh the Xs are what I do too. That's how I got today's word after staring at it for a bit.

I always X out the blanks too and I have to remember that X may be a real option 😅

It's luck with letters too.
I used a key letter in line 2 today which I don't use very often.
It gave me a big hint especially with the other letter I had used and I got it in line 3.
Even though it was a straightforward, regularly used word. I don't think I would have got it quite so easily without that vital letter.

It helped me get EPOXY a few months ago!

Sometimes the pen and paper have to come out especially with anagrams - or in wordle its partial anagrams.
I also sometimes get distracted by the guesses already in the grid so a blank space really helps me focus.
