Non stop bleeding - 4 months

Hi,

I've been bleeding on and off (off means a couple of hours or a day or 2), for 4 months now. Sex is painful. Pelvic pain on and off.

A medium to heavy flow 'period', if it drops for a day or two, it is just spotting. Never really stops completely before full whack of heavy flow

Now, I've had a transvaginal ultrasound. All fine, nothing there.

They said they'd send this back to the GP.

Is there anything else I should be pushing for to be checked?

Thanks so much, bleeding so heavily is awful 24/7 Sad

I know a few people who have had prolonged bleeding like this. In one case it was polyps - I think these usually show up on an ultrasound but they can sometimes be missed. Another was endometriosis which I think can only be picked up via internal camera. The other ended up being uterine cancer and was diagnosed with ultrasound and MRI.

So you could push for an endometriosis investigation, or for an MRI?

Sorry you're going through this. Definitely keep pushing until you find out what's causing it. Some doctors don't take women's issues very seriously but 4 months of bleeding isn't normal.

Are you up to date with smears? I would ask for a referral to a Gynaecologist.

Thank you

I'm just so sick of heavy bleeding like this. It's ridiculous.

But my scan is normal so I guess I'll just have to keep suffering Sad

I’ve just posted a thread about similar symptoms and stumbled upon it. How are you doing OP? @chestonher
