Quitting everything - What would you do

I have to close my business after Christmas. Sadly just not viable anymore.

I am trying to create a list of things I can do to get excited for January. I'm looking for things that can potentially generate an income but are fun or different. I will have at least six months where I can live on savings, but will probably only this a break for three or four while I create a plan. I have no kids but do have a DP. My DP and I keep finances separate and live apart.

Things I can do

  • Apply to be on a TV show
  • Apply to be an extra in a movie
  • Write a fun Children's book
  • House sit and pet sit
  • I can enter a writing competition with a cash prize
  • I can renovate my flat to potentially rent out my spare room on air bnb if needed
  • Sell my feet pics on only fans (half joking)

Anything else?

I was the contestant on a TV show - made a lot of money. It's 100% worth it.

Enter competitions - I've won a lot - definitely a good idea IMO.

My DH used to do medical trials, one time he got paid 2k for being rejected from the trial after a day hahaha. His brother also does it too.
My understanding is it's a lot easier as a man though and they tend to stray away from women due to fertility but also because they don't value us as humans in the medical industry.

Bar work is enjoyable (if you pick the right place) and generally leaves enough time to pursue other projects like writing. I think you need to separate out the fun schemes from the practical ideas, then work out how you can earn enough to keep body and soul together while still allowing you to pursue your dreams. Most writers start off doing it in their spare time.

Sign up to promotions agencies?!

I did this at uni and it was great fun!

I'm taking this time out to clear my head and figure out what I want to do

So why don't you start figuring out now what you want to do rather than wasting spending your time applying for nonsense short term low paid roles?

Boring but babysitting pays v well.

flucamp.com/our-trials/

I went for the initial tests but wasn't suitable. I wondered if my immune system already had the antibodies. I haven't had a cold or the flu in years. A friend did get through and had a minor cold but spent the time reading and watching films.

You can continue to clear your head and work out what you want to do while working.

I think you are being ridiculous, but of course you have every right to fritter away your money in any way you like.

I saw an advert for a two week clinical trial for flu paying £3.5k earlier!

I know someone who did this and became very seriously ill, and was ill for quite a while afterwards. Think carefully about how much that money is worth to you... They are clinical "trials" for a reason.

I'm not sure house/pet sitting will earn you much, from what I saw when I looked into it, you do it for free or low cost in exchange for getting to live in the house. But you might still enjoy that - change of scenery always good for clearing the mind!
Otherwise, you could promote yourself as a local dog-walker. The ones near me get quite a good hourly rate, and you will get lots of walking, fresh air and furry cuddles.
Another suggestion, and I don't know the details so you'll need to look it up - I believe that national trust offer very reduced price, if not free, residential trips where you stay in one of their properties in a group in exchange for doing basic work like painting walls, gardening, etc. So again, you wouldn't earn much if at all, but you'd be doing something different that might spark thoughts or feelings.
Slightly baffled at all of the comments telling you to get a job! There's nothing at all wrong with taking time out to just "think". I did it myself, took a 4-month career break and then changed career. I wouldn't have been able to do that without having had that mental break.
