McDonalds birthday parties

My dd is 5 in November and would like to have a birthday party (she hasn't had one before- just tea parties with family in previous years). She loves McDonalds and would love to have her party there. Our local McDonalds does parties (I've enquired and they've given me a quote but it's quite vague) and I was just wondering if anyone else's child has had a McDonald's party. I was slightly worried that it might be a little chaotic and also what do they do to entertain the kids. Also, what is their cake like? Would appreciate anyone's experiences! Thank you

Mine did about 25 years ago I didn't think they still did them. It used to be the price of a happy meal and maybe a fiver per child.

@FrodisCapering why's that? Are you saying you wouldn't allow your child to go to a party there at all? What if it was their best friend's party?

My DD went to a party at an art cafe last year. After the party the mum took them to McDonalds and at least two of the kids weren’t allowed to go because “McDonalds ewww!”

Look, I am not slating anyone for their choices. It's all good. It's just that my kids have never been and I want to keep it that way for as long as possible.

The only reason I posted was to put this point across in case it would be relevant. I wouldn't let my kids attend.

It's a lovely idea but not all children are allowed to go to McDonalds. We are trying to keep ours' out of it for as long as possible. It might be that not everyone will be able to come.

I think OP will be fairly safe assuming most families will be fine with it

I did in the 90s.

I didn't know McDonald's parties were still a thing.

@cinnabongene Oh FGS , imagine going to the first part then not the second! 🙈 We did happy meals for my daughter's 4th birthday food. No fizzy drinks. There was no waste at all, and the kids loved it. Thankfully my DD's friends were all allowed to attend.

I always wanted to go to MDs as a kid, but they're not Kosher in the UK. When we finally went to the one in Isreal, I was very disappointed!

@FrodisCapering

I feel a bit sorry for your children for them missing out on parties. The majority of kids parties serve chicken nuggets, burgers, pizza with chips and the like with a piece of fruit thrown in so it's "balanced" it's a bog standard kids meal, even in the good places.

Eating one McDonald's isn't going to harm your kids.

They certainly don't do proper birthday parties anymore.
In the 80's you got a tour of the kitchen and then flipped your own burgers and fried your own fries, then you went to the party room, played on a climbing frame of Ronald and then actually met Ronald and sometime his friends before being given a balloon on a stick.
And, AND you got plastic straws (and styrofoam) which meant you could drink a whole milkshake without the straw disintegrating.

Glory days!

The straws were always plastic in the 80s. Well they were at any McDonalds I visited.

Well of course, I was highlighting the difference between the glory days and now.

McDonalds near us has a soft play and still does parties, you get a table reserved in the soft play and everyone gets a happy meal and balloon followed by cake.
