Does anyone know if there’s a special ceremony for the Queen? Haven’t seen any press coverage since her death

News outlets seem to be very quiet.

Oh, I heard on the grapevine that it's gonna be big. Egg and onion sandwiches, a tea urn. The full works.

I think someone is winding you up. Egg and onion sandwiches aren't a thing, surely!

Sadly, they are.

Fieldfly · 19/09/2022 07:19

Clinkymonkey, you’ve taken this too far now - egg and onion sandwiches 😮 - not a thing!

felulageller · 19/09/2022 07:20

I'm off to the bank today, then going to mow the lawn then hang my undies out on the line.

That's not going to be a problem is it?

Playplayaway · 19/09/2022 07:21

I have no idea 🤷‍♀️
I'll see if there's anything in the news later. I'm just getting ready to do the school run and my usual Monday morning supermarket shop.

I'm only telling you what I heard! Personally, I'm more inclined to think cucumber sandwiches, but then I'm always accused of taking it too far ...

coldfeetmama · 19/09/2022 07:30

Totally missing point ... egg and onion sandwiches? 🤢

The top news headlines on every site for the last 10 days: Queen still dead, everyone sad.

I imagine the BBC meeting each morning:

'right, we need another dozen articles for tomorrow, any ideas?'

'I could interview the courgis again'.

Re the corgis - I did have to turn off the radio in the car when I heard Adrian Chiles say he was going to be speaking to the lady who owns a corgi that fathered one of the Queen’s corgis

it must be a v slow news week or Crufts is on the horizon

Also I do actually eat egg mayo with chopped spring onion 🥪, I never realised this was not normal

It's not as bad as the bloke who was interviewed by BBC about his dog who... since the Queen died... 'barks funny'. He thinks the dog is barking 'Queen'.

I kid you not.

😄

What frustrates me is Parliament extended their long summer break into a period of mourning. They need to get on with sorting out the country!

Could not agree more on this! We’ve not had a PM for months and now they have recess AGAIN. It’s an absolute joke!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 19/09/2022 07:49

DEAD? I don't think so. I've checked some postage stamps and she's still there.

ChagSameachDoreen · 19/09/2022 08:04

Apparently channel 5 are showing the funeral.

This is good to know 👍🏻 wouldn't want to miss it accidentally

FayeGovan · 19/09/2022 08:16

Well ive got a Dr's appointment today i had a real faff getting, first i phoned them up, "you are 13th in the queue..", then gave my details and eventually got a phone appointment for 10 days later so had to change my day off at work as no privacy there to talk...had the phone appointment but Dr wants to see me so gave me an appointment today...

What a bloody faff getting an actual appointment with a dr now.

Thank god at least its taken seriously and would never get cancelled.

LegArmpits · 19/09/2022 08:18

Is London Bridge down?!???!?

DappledThings · 19/09/2022 08:18

I like an egg sandwich. I like a cheese and onion sandwich. I have never thought to have egg and onion but I'm keen on the concept.

PermanentTemporary · 19/09/2022 08:23

This can't be right, I haven't heard anything. We'd have got a letter or something.

TotallSilent · 19/09/2022 08:25

I think you're making things up OP, she's definitely still on the £5 note.

I'd check a higher denomination but I don't have one, good job the government are working hard in the cost of living crisis!

JoanOgden · 19/09/2022 08:30

Yeah you have to really look hard to search out the info, but there have been a couple of small pieces on the BBC website. Apparently the royal family want to keep the funeral pretty private and not distract from all the issues the government is grappling with, but they're planning to release a photo or two after the ceremony.

ClinkeyMonkey · 19/09/2022 08:31

My mum told me her TV Times is FULL of stuff about the Queen. So maybe have a look in there?

TyneTeas · 19/09/2022 08:37

Egg and onion sandwiches is on learn Dutch Duolingo, so it must be true...

Apparently there are people queuing for 5 miles to see her coffin, but I can’t believe that and surely someone would have said something.

Apparently it is just an empty box, it is the latest Tracey Emin art installation.

Pedallleur · 19/09/2022 08:37

Supposedly something going on in that London but haven't heard anything on the news. Anything on social media?

The Queen in the cloud, crochet postbox toppers and Paddington bear in stones went down well. Quick someone make a courgi out of lots of pasta and find a couple of kids to take a photo with it. Maybe sprinkle some water and shine a bright light to get a rainbow over it too.
