Autism Advisory Teacher

Looking for advice as to whether this is a viable career…

I’m a qualified primary school teacher but I haven’t worked in a few years now. I had kids and my eldest is autistic. It’s been too hard to get back to work so far as my child needs so much support.

I want to get back to work somehow that is more flexible than classroom teaching.

Is anyone here an Autism advisory teacher? Is it flexible? Do I need post grad qualifications in autism?

Part of me would like to work towards becoming a Senco but I don’t think that would be feasible.

Thanks

I know 2 autism advisory teachers. It's quite a specialist role and both had worked in schools for at least 10years (one in an ASD school) and had post grad qualifications. They both love the role and it is flexible. Wfh options, organising own diary and term time only.

Thanks. That’s so helpful. Did they have a full
masters do you know? Or a post grad certificate/diploma? Masters are £££ 😩

Did they have personal experience of autism or only gained from teaching?
