Is it worth making a formal complaint after deregistering DC from school?

Just that really. I've previously made several for lack of support for DSs disability, all have made no difference despite being valid complaints and received a begrudged acknowledgement.

I removed him this week after an appalling fuck up on heads part.

To whom?

kedavra · 17/09/2022 21:36

To school governors.

Your poor DS. It sounds as though he's been badly let down.

Yes, you should put in a formal complaint to the Governors. They should investigate thoroughly and are responsible for making sure changes are made if necessary.

Please do. Too many of our kids and us as families are being let down or worse, by education establishments (on top of the other obvious things).

Definitely. Definitely please do. So many parents don't because supporting a child with SEN is difficult and time consuming enough without spending time and emotional energy on complaining to governors, which is why so many schools get away with not providing SEN support.

My son had a breakdown as a direct result of the SLTs actions. I'm so glad I put in a complaint as I know know I've done everything I can to stop other children going through the same.

If you are not happy with the governors response to your complaint then send a copy to Ofsted. They won't investigate but it will be looked at when they next inspect.

Good luck!

Yes you should otherwise schools will think it's ok and carry on.

You will be doing it on behalf of families who don't have the option to deregister.

Report them to Ofsted if previous complaints made no difference.

I would always do Ofsted as well as governors.
At our school the governor's are well in with the head, and several family members of the head work at the school.
So do both to be sure outside agencies are aware and because it's a disability the local authority as well , infact because it's such a huge problem, MP because ultimately they are supposed to influence policy.

What I've witnessed at our school op is horrific.
